Second Battle of Edirne (1638)
The Second Battle of Edirne was a decisive engagement in the Based_Kazakh-Suleiman War (1636–1639). It took place in 1638, one year after the Ottoman victory in the First Battle of Edirne. This time, the Based_Kazakh army, under Enver Pasha, launched a counteroffensive that forced the Ottoman forces to retreat.
Battle
After regrouping and reinforcing his army, Enver Pasha led a surprise assault on the Ottoman-controlled Edirne. The Ottoman army, weakened by previous battles and supply shortages, struggled to hold their positions. After intense fighting, the Based_Kazakh forces recaptured the city, dealing a significant blow to Sultan Suleiman’s campaign.
Aftermath
The Ottoman retreat from Edirne marked a turning point in the war. Both sides suffered heavy casualties, and neither could gain a decisive upper hand. This battle contributed to the eventual stalemate that led to the war’s inconclusive end in 1639.
