Baguley Athletic Football Club is a amateur football club based in Baguley, Wythenshawe, England. They are currently members of the Manchester Football League, the eleventh tier of English football, and play at Rodgers Park, Baguley. Established in 2004, they are known as "the Badgers".

History

Baguley Athletic are established following a breakaway from parent club Woodhouse Park United, newly established BAFC are defeated 4:1 in their first competitive game then miss out on promotion by one point following a final day defeat to Richmond Rovers. In 2006, Athletic achieve promotion with three games to go and end the season as champions.The team defeat Richmond Rovers 5:1 as they begin life in the second division but defeat High Lane 1:0 to be crowned champions and achieve back to back promotions

In 2007, the team fold and Baguley Athletic are put on hiatus. In 2013, Baguley Athletic are reformed with a new Saturday morning team and Paul Stewart returns as manager, newly reformed, Baguley Athletic win their first game as a new club, defeating South Manchester 7:1. The next year, the club announce their first sponsor - American Soda and hold their first charity match in memory of a former junior player. In 2014, Baguley Athletic finish sixth in their inaugural season in the Manchester Saturday Morning League. Former junior team captain, Matthew Davenport replaces Paul Stewart as manager - Stewart becomes Club Chairman. A new sponsor joins the team as ThinkHotels.com sign a two year deal. Baguley Athletic establish a new Sunday team who will play in the Cheshire & Manchester League.


In 2015, The new Sunday team win the Trafford FC tournament. Athletic win the second annual memorial trophy. Sher Akbar join the club as the new sponsors of the Sunday team. The Saturday team finish the season in fifth place whilst the Sundays finish fourth in their inaugural season.

In 2016, the Saturday team climb Snowdonia to raise vital funds for the club. The Sunday team is restructured and former junior player Martyn Story takes the managers hot-seat. Martyn Story steps down as manager of the Sunday team and is replaced by Steve Orrill. The Saturday squad claim promotion with three games to - they are crowned champions on the last day of the season. The Sunday squad finish ninth and Steve Orrill steps down as manager. Former player, Dan Williamson is appointed as the new Sundays manager. The Sunday team transfer to the Stockport District Sunday League. The Saturdays are victorious in the third annual memorial cup.

In 2017, the Sunday team achieve promotion to the second division. The Saturday and Sunday teams raise money by climbing Helvellyn and Snowdonia respectively. The club add a new Veterans team who will compete in the Cheshire Veterans League - Declan Aherne is appointed as team manager. Thyssenkrupp join the team as sponsors of the veterans team. The Saturday team defeat the Sundays in the fourth annual memorial cup.

In 2018, Baguley Athletic launch their first Easter egg and gift drive. Baguley Athletic are awarded the FA's prestigious Charter Standard Award. The club are invited to reopen the newly refurbished B&M store in Baguley. The Veterans finish their inaugural season in eighth place whilst the Sunday team are promoted to the first division. Players from the Sunday team take part in the Wythenshawe Games 10k to raise money for Scope. Baguley Athletic announce a full rebrand of the club. The Saturday team are defeated in the fifth annual memorial cup. The success of the Easter egg drive sees Athletic collect Christmas gifts for Wythenshawe Hospital's Starlight Children's Ward.

In 2019, The Sunday team finish a respectable fourth and are promoted to the Stockport & District Premier League. After winning three promotions in as many years, manager Dan Williamson leaves the club. The Veterans clinch the division five title having lost only one league game all season. Former player, Jonny Chrimes is appointed as the new Sunday team manager. Athletic introduce a new junior team who will compete at under thirteen level in the Salford & District Junior League. After five years, the Saturday squad is folded

In 2020, the Sunday team are forced to fold following a walk-out from the management team. The under fourteens welcome a new sponsor - the Pizzeria Manchester. The Saturday and Sunday teams are reformed with Matthew Davenport and Martyn Story returning as managers.

In 2021, former Sundays manager, Dan Williamson returns to the club as the new First Team manager. Declan Aherne leaves his role as Veterans manager and is replaced by Ian Howard. Matthew Davenport leaves his role as Saturday manager and is replaced by David Heapy - the team move to the Altrincham & District League. The new First Team are accepted into the Lancashire & Cheshire League whilst the Sunday Team transfer to the East Cheshire Sunday League. The club announce five new sponsors with Northedge Architecture, BarKode Limited, Shred & Butta, AirDNA Digital and City Illuminations joining the team. Koolpak are announced as the clubs new "official healthcare provider". The under fifteens win the annual Crofton Juniors tournament. Baguley Athletic are awarded the Silver Award from the Manchester College in recognition of our commitment to provide young people with work opportunities. Baguley Athletic establish The Community Badgers - the official community arm of the club. The under fifteens move to the Bolton, Bury & District League. The Baguley Athletic first annual Community Christmas Fayre is held.

In 2022, the Club set up their own community arm - The Community Badgers. Baguley Athletic appear in their first ever final as the First Team make it to the Wray Cup Final. Little Kix is reopened, offering affordable football to children aged 2 to 8. The First Team are accepted in to the Manchester League - step 7 on the English Football Pyramid.

Ground

The club initially played at Wythenshawe Cricket & Football ground and and will move to Rodgers Park from the 2023-24 season.
