I'm a Perl/C hacker, with various interests in and around open source software.

• I'm the architect of the Parrot virtual machine.
• Together with David Neary I run a meeting ground for open source foundations and projects called FLOSS Foundations.
• I'm on the board of directors of The Perl Foundation.
• I work for O'Reilly Media on OSCON, the Energy Innovation Conference, and the Radar blog.

• I served from May 2003 - Oct 2005 as president of The Perl Foundation.
• I served from 2002-2005 as project manager for Perl 6.

• In the late 90's I was lead developer on the redesign of Booksamillion.com, and am surprised that the site is still largely unchanged.

• In the mid 90's I worked as a linguist in Kenya and Sudan.
