Alexander Mason Trotter (17 November 1890 - 15 December 1946) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]
Life
[edit]His father was William Trotter (c. 1853), a coachman and horse breeder from Legerwood in Berwickshire.[3]
His mother was Helen Stewart Mason, known as Ellen, (born c. 1858) from Westruther in Berwickshire. William and Ellen married in Galashiels on 3 June 1881.
Alexander Mason Trotter was born at 11 Merchiston Mews, Newington, Edinburgh on 17 November 1890 at 10pm.[4]
He married Barbara Ethel Avis (1899 - 24 July 1937) from Fulham in London. They married on 29 April 1922 in Camberwell, London.
They had 2 sons.
After Barbara died he married again, to Mina Bryson (2 January 1904 - 1 April 2001) from Kelso. They married on 24 January 1938 in Edinburgh.
