Robert Thorburn (March 1818 - 2 November 1885) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]
Life

Robert Thorburn was born in Dumfries in March 1818, the son of a tradesman.[5]
He settled in Winkston in Peebleshire and was known as Robert Thorburn of Winkston.
He married Elizabeth Robertson (born c. 1825) from Northgate, Linlithgowshire. They married on 16 October 1846 in Edinburgh.
One of their children was the artist Archibald Thorburn.

[edit]He died on 2 November 1885 in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England. His usual address was then Forrest Field in Kelso.
His son Archibald was then staying at 17 Cumberland Walk in Tunbridge Wells.[6]
The value of his estate at his death was recorded as £4816, 6 shillings and 11 pence.
