The Woman in the Yard is an upcoming American psychological horror film directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by Sam Stefanak. The film stars Danielle Deadwyler, Okwui Okpokwasili, Russell Hornsby, Peyton Jackson and Estella Kahiha as a family that sees a strange woman, dressed in all black, staying in their yard. The strange woman appears harmless initially, but horror soon follows. The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on March 28, 2025.

A woman in black appears on a family's front lawn and delivers a chilling warning. No one knows where she came from, what she wants, or when she will leave.

In February 2024, it was announced that a horror thriller film titled The Woman in the Yard was in development at Universal Pictures and Blumhouse. Jaume Collet-Serra had been hired to direct and Sam Stefanak would write the screenplay, with Danielle Deadwyler cast in the lead role.[2] In April 2024, it was reported that Okwui Okpokwasili[3] and Russell Hornsby[4] had joined. In May, Peyton Jackson and Estella Kahiha joined the cast in undisclosed roles.[5]

Filming

Principal photography began on April 15, 2024.[6] The film was the first major production to be shot at Athena Studios in Athens, Georgia. Filming also took place in nearby Bostwick, Georgia.[7]

Release

The Woman in the Yard is scheduled to be released in the United States on March 28, 2025.[8] It was previously scheduled for release on January 10, 2025,[2] before being briefly removed from the release schedule.[9]
