The Blue Trail (Portuguese: O último azul) is an upcoming science fiction, fantasy film directed by Gabriel Mascaro. The film follows Tereza, 77, who defying government order to relocate, embarks on a journey through the Amazon that changes her destiny forever.[1]
The international co-production between Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and Netherlands was selected in the Competition at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, where it will compete for the Golden Bear and have first screening in February 2025 at Berlinale Palast.[2]
Synopsis
[edit]In an effort to boost the economy, the government creates distant colonies for the elderly, ensuring them a comfortable end to their lives. Teresa, a 77-year-old finds herself unexpectedly included in the program due to a lowered age threshold. With only days left before her relocation, she decides to defy her fate and embarks on a journey through the Amazon to fulfill one last wish.

Release
[edit]The Blue Trail will have its world premiere in February 2025, as part of the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, in Competition.[3][4]
The film has joined inaugural slate of newly-launched Paris-based sales company Lucky Number. They acquired sales rights of the film in January 2025.[5]
