Distinction from Template:Infobox Book series
[edit]This template may seem similar in function to Template:Infobox Book series, but there are several important distinctions. This template is very similar in style to Template:Infobox Book (purposefully, and it is based off of that template), but the Infobox Book series is very different, and an overhaul would not be possible without breaking a lot of pages.
Infobox Book series is also used for a lot of graphic novels, which use very specific parameters that aren't needed for articles about novel series. There seemed to be a need for this infobox, as I found while editing articles, and so I created this template. Mr. Absurd (talk) 00:50, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- Just as an update here, {{Infobox Book series}} was taken to TfD, where consensus was to delete and merge with this template ({{Infobox Novel series}}). Once it's been deleted, I'll move this template to that title as it's more discoverable. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 10:15, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
The horizontal border
[edit]Is there really any need for this? It just seems like a random bit of embellishment to me. I'd rather we removed it altogether. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 09:55, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
Related publications field?
[edit]How about a field for related publications? Such as the books by Ian Cameron Esslemont related to the Malazan Book of the Fallen series, or The Children of Húrin related to The Lord of the Rings? It could also replace the two fields of preceded by and followed by. WLU (t) (c) Wikipedia's rules:simple/complex 13:32, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
