Add Assamese

[edit]

@Ibrahim Muizzuddin: Hello, can you add Assamese? Assamese is rich in Hindu literature. Assamese is the first New Indo-Aryan language to which the Ramayana was translated. Assamese speakers are Hindu majority and Assam has some important Hindu sites. Msasag (talk) 15:47, 28 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Msasag:. Recently, I had put Assamese language in Infobox Hindu term template as you had requested. Cheers. -Ibrahim Muizzuddin 💬 13:18, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

is this really how you want the template to work?

[edit]

For an example, see Lalita Sakhi.

This part of the template wikitext renders the ibox header:

| above = Translations of<br />{{#if:{{{title|}}}|{{{title}}} | {{#if:{{{pi|}}}|{{transl|pi|IAST|{{{pi}}}}} | {{#if:{{{sa|}}}|{{transl|sa|IAST|{{{sa}}}}} | }} }} }}

I don't know what |pi= is (Pali? – it doesn't appear to be documented). The example template doesn't have |title= nor does it have |pi= but does have |sa= ललिता({{IAST|Lālitā }}).

That means that this is executed:

{{#if:{{{sa|}}}|{{transl|sa|IAST|{{{sa}}}}} | }}

If I understand the documentation, |sa= is used to hold Sanskrit-script text (the ललिता portion of the malformed |sa= example). The problem is that {{transl}} expects Latn-script text so properly, the |above= code should be:

| above = Translations of<br />{{#if:{{{title|}}}|{{{title}}} | {{#if:{{{pi|}}}|{{transl|pi|IAST|{{{pi}}}}} | {{#if:{{{sa-Latn|}}}|{{transl|sa|IAST|{{{sa-Latn}}}}} | }} }} }}

Perhaps the same applies to |pi= as well.

Alternately, perhaps the |above= code should be:

| above = Translations of<br />{{#if:{{{title|}}}|{{{title}}} | {{#if:{{{pi|}}}|{{lang|pi|{{{pi}}}}} | {{#if:{{{sa|}}}|{{lang|sa|{{{sa}}}}} | }} }} }}
