[edit]- ... that when Karsten Januschke conducted Offenbach's Die Banditen with a small orchestra and 22 soloists, 11 of them tenors, a reviewer noted that he played "a lean, dry, delicate Offenbach"? [2024-03-23 at 11:42:47, by AirshipJungleman29]

- I disagree with the change and shortening, above. Hooks should be immediately understandable. You should not have to stop and work it out. The second version above contains the awkward phrase, "(his) conducting was described as", which is not only awkward, but is split and overarched across a whole load of stuff in between. The first version, above, may seem long and cumbrous to those who may want to shorten hooks for DYK, but sometimes shortening is not the answer to the need for immediacy. Something shorter but confusing is not immediate. To clarify: the first version above is elegant because it runs smoothly, is easy to understand and it is clear. The second version needs to be read a few times to get the point. And who is going to do that when browsing the DYK list? Storye book (talk) 12:55, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
