French levels for songs
Where can we edit levels? Anyway, someone needs to update French levels for songs because I'm tired of seeing the old gold = 75k, platinum = 150k, and diamond = 250k. Certifications are now based on streaming - respectively 10M, 20M, and 35M. Given SNEP uses a 1:150 ratio, the table should either show the number of streams or, respectively, 67k, 133k, and 233k. · Mcdonalds (talk · cont), at 01:07, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Mcdonalds: Sorry that I don't have time to do the research, I will be happy to incorporate the change. Can you supply reliable sources for this change and the date it took place? --Muhandes (talk) 11:06, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Muhandes: Everything's available on the SNEP website. The web page says, since 2016, song certifications are based on streaming and downloads equivalent basing on a 1/150 ratio. For example, a song that has racked up 16,854,000 streams and has sold 34,000 downloads is eligible for a platinum certification (20 million) because 16,854,000 + (34,000 * 150) = 21,954,000 million. Gold = 10M, platinum = 20M, and diamond = 35M equal to respectively 67k, 133k, and 233k, which I think are easier to grasp - I wouldn't want people to think that a song moved 10M, 20M, or 35M units in France. We've been doing the same with Danish song certifications (with different levels and a different ratio, of course). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mcdonalds (talk • contribs) 17:39, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Mcdonalds: Good, I'll try to find time to implement it. --Muhandes (talk) 17:35, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Mcdonalds: I implemented it in my sandbox. You will not get the numbers you expect for triple certification, but this cannot be avoided:

- @Muhandes: That looks good except that there are no 3× gold, 3× platinum or 3× diamond certifications for songs. SNEP only has gold, platinum, and diamond, which I tested. Also, I do think it would be (and look) better to round numbers - gold: 10M = 66,666.66666666667 -> 67,000; platinum: 20M = 133,333.3333333333 -> 133,000; diamond: 35M = 233,333.3333333333 -> 233,000 - but that's no big deal so I think you can request it and I'll let you know if a problem pops up. · Mcdonalds (talk · cont), at 02:50, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Mcdonalds: Seems I no longer need to request it, the protection was lifted. As for the numbers, I tried to stick with the numbers on Syndicat National de l'Édition Phonographique and I think they look better and also make it clear that these are equivalent numbers rather than real ones. If consensus is to round them, I will. Anyway, I got to run now, but later today I'll move it from my Sandbox. --Muhandes (talk) 07:05, 16 March 2018 (UTC)

- @Muhandes: I need you again. SNEP has changed their thresholds for song certifications. From this Friday, the 27th of April, they'll be as the following: gold = 15 million (10M prev); platinum = 30 million (20 prev); diamond = 50 million (35 prev). Using the 150 ratio, we get: gold = 100,000; platinum = 200,000; diamond = 333,333. I'd like to implement the change but I don't think I can. French video cert
Hi @Muhandes: can you check if the template for French certification is working for the videos? In Rebel Heart Tour article the sales parameter had to be manually added, previously it was autogenerated. —IB [ Poke ] 14:02, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
- @IndianBio: You need to specify the month for 2018. Fixing this will require an overhaul of the template so if it is not of huge inconvenience, I rather not resolve this. --Muhandes (talk) 14:06, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

Belgium links
Hi @Muhandes: can you please change the Belgium certification urls? The format is like http://www.ultratop.be/nl/goud-platina/{{{certyear}}}
this for all the years now. —IB [ Poke ] 09:37, 31 May 2018 (UTC)

http://www.ultratop.be/nl/goud-platina/{{{certyear}}}/singles
for singles, andhttp://www.ultratop.be/nl/goud-platina/{{{certyear}}}/albums
for albums - at present if you just enter the certification year parameter, it directs automatically to the page for the singles certifications, it should be possible to direct the certification to either singles or albums as appropriate by following the "type" parameter, no? Belgian certification-levels for International Repertoire have changed
Hi @Muhandes:, Belgium's singles certification-levels for international artists have recently changed. Effective July 1, 2018 the certification-levels for all non-Belgian singles are Gold=20,000, Platinum=40,000. Also, according to their employee whom I exchanged e-mails with, all singles released before July 1, 2018 will also be affected by these recent levels only if they haven't reached Gold status. I've uploaded my correspondence with their employee on Mediefire as PDF file here. I know this is rather unusual way of treating earlier releases, and I'm not sure if you'll be able to program it in a way that only those earlier singles titles are affected that have not yet reached Gold status.--Harout72 (talk) 16:58, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Harout72: Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that this means that from July 1, 2018, certification levels will be decided according to the certification date, rather than the release date, in the same way we always did for France and the US. We are currently using the release date, presumably based on some sources, but maybe just by default. Looking at the website, it seems to me that we were wrong to begin with and should have always used certification dates for the levels. What do you think? Perhaps ask the representative? --Muhandes (talk) 12:08, 12 July 2018 (UTC)
- This new decision (Gold=20,000, Platinum=40,000) is for singles only. Yes, starting July 1, 2018, not only the singles released on and after July 1st will be affected by these certification-levels, but also those singles that are released before July 1st, but have not yet reached Gold status. Meaning all those singles that have been released before July 1st, 2018 and are already certified Gold or/and Platinum will bot be affected by the newer levels. Thus, based on his e-mail, the Belgian Entertainment Association will still apply earlier certification levels to already certified singles. I don't think we were wrong all along, BEA isn't operating like SNEP, but their system is somewhat closer to Music Canada, which applies the most recent certification-levels to all digital singles regardless of release date, but for albums applies certification-levels based on release dates.--Harout72 (talk) 13:23, 12 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Harout72: Currently we were doing both albums and single according to release date and not according to certification date. So, a single released before April 2008 but certified after April 2008 has a threshold of 25,000 for Gold, not 15,000. Do you believe this to be correct? In other words, the correct logic is as follows:
- This new decision (Gold=20,000, Platinum=40,000) is for singles only. Yes, starting July 1, 2018, not only the singles released on and after July 1st will be affected by these certification-levels, but also those singles that are released before July 1st, but have not yet reached Gold status. - Albums are certified according to release date.
- Singles certified after July 1, 2018 will have the 10,000 threshold independently of the release date. Singles certified before July 2018 have a threshold depending on the release date.
- I can program that, but I want to be certain this is the logic. Some releases may have a zero threshold since they have
certdate=2018
without acertmonth
, but we can probably hunt those down and correct them. --Muhandes (talk) 14:37, 12 July 2018 (UTC)- Yes, so the Albums will still be certified based on release date. Let me clarify that the "10,000 units for Gold" and "20,000 units for Platinum" for singles released after July 1, 2018 are for Belgian/Dutch artists that sing in French. For all other artists from all other parts of the world regardless of the language sung in, the threshold will be "Gold=20,000, Platinum=40,000". Let me also clarify that Belgium's certification-levels in 2007 for international artists were Gold=15,000, Platinum=30,000. But were Gold=25,000, Platinum-50,000 until good 2006 (see page 23).
- I can program that, but I want to be certain this is the logic. Some releases may have a zero threshold since they have
- (Example 1) An international single released in 2005 certified Platinum (50,000 units) in 2005, will be re-certified 2x Platinum (100,000 units) after July 1, 2018.
- (Example 2) An international single released between 2007-July 1, 2018 certified Platinum (30,000 units) during the same period, will be re-certified 2x Platinum (60,000 units) after July 1, 2018.
- (Example 3) An international single released between 2007-July 1, 2018 not certified Gold before July 1, 2018, will be certified Gold (20,000 units) after July 1, 2018.
— Preceding unsigned comment added by Harout72 (talk • contribs) 15:21, 12 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Harout72: So to correct my statement above
- Albums are certified according to release date.
- Domestic singles certified after July 1, 2018 will have the 10,000/20,000 thresholds independently of the release date. Domestic singles certified before July 2018 have thresholds depending on the release date.
- International singles certified after July 1, 2018 will have the 20,000/40,000 thresholds independently of the release date. Internaitonal singles certified before July 2018 have thresholds depending on the release date.
- Is that correct, or am I still missing something? --Muhandes (talk) 15:41, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Muhandes: Yes that's correct.--Harout72 (talk) 18:26, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

Minor fix to Canada entry
Hi Muhandes. The Canadian certification entry requires a minor fix as it's not showing the desired content. Could you replace "?fwp_gp_search" with "?_gp_search" in the URL? Thanks. snapsnap (talk) 18:24, 30 July 2018 (UTC)

Dutch certifications
Hello Muhandes or other editor who can fix this – after three years of being unavailable, the Dutch record industry body, the NVPI, have finally updated their website and the searchable database for Dutch certifications is available again. However, the web address has changed. The old web page was http://www.ifpi.nl/nvpi/pagina.asp?pagkey=xxxxx (where the series of 'x' represents a number, all titles were allocated their own ID number)... for some time now this link has redirected to a series of spam pop-up pages. The new search page is https://nvpi.nl/nvpi-audio/marktinformatie/goud-platina/ – no numbers are required for the new search page. Could you please change this web address in the template, so that all existing Dutch certifications in articles point to the new page, and add the text 'Type the name of the artist or title of single/album into the "Artiest of titel" box', so that it shows up in the instructions in the citation? BPI
Hello User:Muhandes, I noticed that the BPI database now includes a specific catalog number in the URL for each album and single they have awarded with (e.g. Drake's Scorpion (10709-2363-2), Florence and the Machine's High as Hope (15087-891-2)). It also automatically updates with their highest certification. My question is: is it possible to update the template to include them so users won't have to search for a certified record anymore? Thanks. Chihciboy (talk) 14:15, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Chihciboy: I'm sorry, but I somehow missed your ping. I just noticed it and I will look into it next weekend when I have more time. --Muhandes (talk) 17:44, 1 October 2018 (UTC)

Duplicate reference names
Today, I notice that there are hundreds of new entries in Category:Pages with duplicate reference names. They all seem to involve invocations of this template with "region=Finland" as a parameter. But I don't see any changes to this template which make me think this template has new code that contributed to the problem.
Here are some example topics which are newly showing duplicate refdef errors for their Finland cert table entries: Call Me Maybe, 1 (Beatles album), Californication (album), Celebration (Madonna song), Jagged Little Pill.
Does anyone recognize this problem? How can I learn enough about these vrey complicated templates in order to debug and diagnose the issue myself? I'm worried that someone has made a change which is negatively affecting hundreds of articles. -- Mikeblas (talk) 13:23, 30 September 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting us know Mikeblas, I will look into it. --Muhandes (talk) 17:17, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Mikeblas: I'm certain this is not new code but new Wikipedia behaviour. I am not very familiar with the intrinsics so I don't know what causes is and although I can fix it for this case, it wont help in many other cases, see for example Template:Certification Table Top/doc. I believe it is an erroneous behaviour: the same reference is defined twice with identical content and this used to work fine, but now it doesn't. This means that every usage of {{certification cite ref}} except the first one will create this error, defeating the whole purpose of {{certification cite ref}}. I will ask at the Village pump maybe someone there can shed light on this. --Muhandes (talk) 17:50, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
- Addendum: I see you already asked there. Might have pointed me there and saved me the effort. I'll join the conversation there as well. --Muhandes (talk) 17:55, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
- Just so I understand: was it a lot of effort? Did you lift anything heavy, or walk a long distance? Either way, I'm very sorry that you're put out. I'll leave it to you to work the issue, since you don't like the way I've approached it. But, as pennance, let me point out that your diagnosis is wrong: not every invocation of {{certification cite ref}} causes a referencing error; only some of them. -- Mikeblas (talk) 13:24, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Mikeblas: Sorry it came out grouchy, I didn't mean it as a big deal, don't take it so hard. Since you asked, I wasted 40 minutes building test cases and figuring things out, and then I realised it is part of a much bigger issue which is already being resolved elsewhere. NZ id
I was wondering if anyone watching this page new how to fix the error that can be seen at Black Panther (soundtrack)#Certifications for Black Panther: The Album in the citation for the New Zealand certification. It wants an id number, but I am not that familiar with music articles and templates like this and have no idea what that id number would be and/or where to find it. It would be awesome if someone could point me in the right direction. - adamstom97 (talk) 20:53, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Adamstom.97: For New Zealand, the id number is the chart number at the New Zealand Music Charts website. For example, this week's album chart is 4545 so |id=4545. You'd have to find the week that shows that Black Panther went Platinum on this site and add the 4 digit id number. Charts.org.nz has the weeks it charted in New Zealand, so those weeks would help find the right week on New Zealand Music Charts. Hope that helps. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 22:30, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
- The id number you want is 4512 (week beginning 19 August 2018) - this is the first week that shows the album as platinum-certified. You can see the certification for the album as a banner across the top left corner of the album's cover picture - it was at no. 29 that week. Richard3120 (talk) 22:37, 30 October 2018 (UTC)

Gaon certification
@Muhandes and Richard3120:, Gaon certifications have started now from January 2018. Can we include them in the template? —IB [ Poke ] 10:42, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
- @IndianBio: seems legit to me. Gaon Music Chart is notable, the certification method and threshold are well published, and from what I could see, the certification is archived. From google translate it seems to me like "DOWNLOAD" would be the singles certification and "STREAMING" is not really a sales certification so it should not be added as a certification. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of these. I'll start working on adding them, first to {{cite certification}} and then here, unless someone objects. --Muhandes (talk) 19:36, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

Certification cleanup categories
Hello. I was wondering if anyone would like to help me clean out Category:Pages using Certification Table Entry-Sales with missing information and Category:Cite certification used with missing parameters. France 2x gold pre 2006
Hello. I have a question in regards to the 2x gold for France before the change in June 2006. For Kill Bill Vol. 1 Original Soundtrack, the soundtrack/album hit 2x gold in September 2005. Adding the month in the certref should generate 200,000 according to Syndicat National de l'Édition Phonographique. But when I add |certmonth=9 to the ref, it gives me 150,000 instead. I was wondering why this was the case. Thanks. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 17:25, 8 November 2018 (UTC)
- That's simple to explain. I wrote this part in early 2011. Back then, the dates on that article you mentioned were different. I'll need to correct this, but I'm not sure I'll have time this weekend. --Muhandes (talk) 07:04, 9 November 2018 (UTC)

New Zealand album certification levels
Can anyone shed some light on New Zealand album certification levels ? Recorded Music NZ has no information. The template uses Gold=7500; Platinum=15000. It is unclear to me from Scapolo's book what the levels were. --Muhandes (talk) 17:34, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
- The current levels are here. Although, this article indicates that album levels around 1991/1992 may have been Gold=10,000, and possibly Platinum=20,000, I think for the time being, we should keep the album levels at Gold=7,500, Platinum=15,000 for all periods as it's unclear as to whether or not Gold=10,000, Platinum=20,000 were the levels from the beginning (1978), and/or when they were lowered to current levels.--Harout72 (talk) 19:03, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
- Scapolo says on page 7: "for album figures see above." but I couldn't figure out above where. --Muhandes (talk) 19:20, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
- Those are pages before the scanned ones. This scan was given to me by a fellow editor who had asked someone else to provide the scans. I tried to get him ask for scans for the pages that speak of the album levels, but he wasn't able to get them. Perhaps someone here who reads this might have the book in their possession and provide us with scans of those pages.--Harout72 (talk) 19:38, 17 November 2018 (UTC)

Guys, I have photos that I took surreptitiously of the relevant pages, but they are of the previous edition of the book, that only goes up to 1996. I'll sort out the photos and upload them to Mediafire after the weekend, so that you can see the certification levels for yourselves. The problem is that they say when the certifications started in July 1978 and the levels at that time, but it doesn't say when they were changed... this is the part that isn't very clear, it seems to be sometime between 1992 and 1994. Missing NZ Certification on webiste
Hello. I came across Out of Reach (song) which says it went gold in 2001. However, the NZ Music Charts does not confirm it. I would understand if it was one of the older ones (per above discussion) but this one is a more recent one. Should I remove the NZ certification claim as the website does not confirm it? Thanks. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 17:57, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
- I removed it as there are no certifications for it on the last week of its appearance on the charts.--Harout72 (talk) 18:29, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah, I checked all the way to the end just in case. Are there other cases like that? --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 21:09, 28 November 2018 (UTC)

Denmark
Hello. There are some issues with the Denmark urls. For a link to a specific certification like in American Beauty/American Psycho, the link goes to the main page of IFPI. However, for links that specify a chart such as Back to the 80s (song), the link points to the correct chart. Also, I found in Animals (Maroon 5 song) a specific url used for certref. The problem is that doesn't work anymore. Instead I would have to search the site to confirm that yes the song went Platinum. Any url with a page number wouldn't be working in the future as new songs/albums get certified and therefore change the page number. Maybe the node pages would be more stable? --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 01:03, 7 November 2018 (UTC)
- @MrLinkinPark333:
- The main page for Denmark certifications moved from http://www.ifpi.dk/?q=certificeringer to http://www.ifpi.dk/certificeringer-0. I corrected the template so it points the right way.
- American Beauty/American Psycho was using a direct link to a page that no longer exists. I corrected it by using an archived version. I am not aware of a way to access these pages on the current website.
- As you pointed out, Animals (Maroon 5 song) used an incorrect method of citation. I removed the
certref
so that it links to the default page. - There used to be a comment when you used the
id
parameter which showed a note "Click on næste to go to page XX if certification is from the official website." As mentioned above, this is pointless since the page keeps changing. I removed this option so currentlyid
is ignored, except for the case mentioned below. - Note that you can always use
recent=false
for a direct link to the chart, if you know when it charted. For example:
{{Certification Table Entry|region=Denmark|title=Animals|artist=Maroon 5|type=single|award=Platinum|certyear=2014|relyear=2014|relmonth=11|certmonth=11|certday=12|recent=false|id=50}}
Region | Certification | Certified units/sales |
---|---|---|
Denmark (IFPI Danmark)[1] | Platinum | 30,000^ |
- The new node pages may be stable. If you think you are going to use them, I can make it so when you use
id
and you don't userecent=false
, it will go to the node page. We will need to verify first thatid
wasn't used in the erroneous manner I mentioned above. Let me know if you the whole process is needed and I'll implement it.

- Thank you for the quick update @Muhandes:. I don't know about the nodes as it was a suggestion. If pointing to the specific chart would be more easier, than I think that would be more useful than the nodes. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 16:56, 8 November 2018 (UTC)

- @Muhandes: IFPI's website only goes up to the beginning of 2011. The charts fill the gap from 2007 to 2011. I don't think the nodes would be necessarily cause they'd be easily broken I think. So what would be more suitable for a song that was certified from 2011 onwards: IFPI or Hitlisten? I don't know if the IFPI ones from 2007 would disappear come 2019 for example. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 00:41, 29 November 2018 (UTC)

Hello. I've been working through Category:Pages using Certification Table Entry-Sales with missing information and came across multiple SNEP album certifications that have been certified before 1988. As per Syndicat National de l'Édition Phonographique, most of the sales amounts are unknown. What could be done for these albums as they can't currently be adjusted? The ones I've found so far that are effected are: 4 (Foreigner album). Agent Provocateur (album), The Unforgettable Fire and Zebop!. Thanks. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 21:58, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
- The certification-level for Gold albums since January 1, 1973 until July 1, 2006 has been 100,000 units. We have sources supporting that information at the SNEP. Maybe @Muhandes: can help us to correct this discrepancy.--Harout72 (talk) 23:40, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
- Done this one is on me, I simply forgot to add the number for albums prior to 1988. Silver and Diamond will still return 0 if used prior to 1988. By the way, if you do encounter a case where we do not have any sources about a certification level, e.g. for Denmark between October 2007 and August 2010 for singles, you can use
nosales=yes
so the cell will remain empty rather than "0". --Muhandes (talk) 08:30, 29 November 2018 (UTC)- Perfect. A lot of the missing ones I've been finding were for Gold ones pre-1988. That'd reduce the category even more. Many thanks. @Harout72: SNEP's article doesn't have a source for 100,000 for gold for 1973-1988. Which source are you referring to? --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 18:45, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
- @MrLinkinPark333: See this source in the first column from the left in the albums table, and also this source in the fourth column.--Harout72 (talk) 19:34, 29 November 2018 (UTC)

New Zealand certifications late 1970s
Hello. I've come across two 1970s singles that are supposely were certified in New Zealand but the NZ Music Charts does not confirm it. They are Wuthering Heights (song) and Rock with You. According to NZ Music Charts, they were not certified at all throughout their chart performance. Also, I'm not seeing any certifications from 1975-79 for singles and 1975-77 for albums. I could be wrong though. Does anyone know when New Zealand began their certifications for albums/singles? --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 19:10, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
- @MrLinkinPark333: yes, NZ certifications started in July 1978. See this archived thread for details. And note that the levels were different from now. Basically, we'd need to cite the book for those certifications. Richard3120 (talk) 23:08, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
- Just a side note, I've begun implementing NZ singles earlier certification-levels (Gold=10,000, Platinum=20,000) at the List of best-selling music artists using the scans of The Complete NZ Charts 1966-2006. It is clear that from the beginning (1978) until 1989 the levels for singles remained Gold=10,000, Platinum=20,000. I think our template also should be programmed to bring up the correct certification-levels for all singles titles released before 1989.--Harout72 (talk) 23:40, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Richard3120: Okay. That solves the albums question. Ill have to dig through 1978/79 singles on the website. However, Wuthering Heights and Rock With You certs are uncomfirmed with the website. Maybe theyre in the book? --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 00:56, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Harout72: thanks for doing that. The question is, does the template need to be updated if the only way to add certifications from the 1970s and 80s is manually anyway, and there's no online website to link to?
- @MrLinkinPark333: yes, if they've received a gold or platinum certification, it will be noted in the book. However, I don't live in the UK any more and visit about once a year, so I only get to visit the British Library for a few days each time I'm back. I don't know if Harout's connection would be able to check in their copy of the book for us? Richard3120 (talk) 01:26, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Richard3120: Well, The Complete NZ Charts 1966-2006 is being used throughout wikipedia for charts and even for some of the earlier certifications, and this scan of the page indicating the earlier levels proves that those were the levels. So, once we all collectively accept that the scans and the book is reliable to support the earlier levels, programming the template will make it official for all singles released before 1989. Otherwise, doing it manually, might raise arguments and unnecessary reverts, the template will make it official.--Harout72 (talk) 01:58, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- In my opinion you don't even need a scan. As I believe there is consensus that this book is a reliable source, we should assume good faith. This is what we did with other book citation templates. What I can do is three step approach. First, make something like
{{cite Scapolo|page=XXX}}
where one can easily refer to the book. If someone supplies a link to a scan I'll include it. This will create something like: Scapolo, Dean (2007). The Complete New Zealand Music Charts: 1966 - 2006. Maurienne House. p. XXX. ISBN 9781877443008. This can be used in article body and lists to cite both certifications and charts easily. Then I can add an option for{{cite certification|region=New Zealand|recent=book|id=XXX}}
that will automatically use this book if requested, which will make citing it for certifications especially easy. Finally, I will make {{Certification Table Entry}} pass this option so it can be used easily by the certification table. If this is something that you think is useful, it is not difficult to implement at all. --Muhandes (talk) 08:21, 11 November 2018 (UTC)- @Muhandes:I don't have scans for all pages, I just have scans for the cover and two other pages, this was provided by a fellow editor. But your options sound good. I guess as long as we have the template bring up the correct certification-levels for singles released before 1989, all options suggested above are fine.--Harout72 (talk) 13:34, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- Yes Muhandes I really like your option, and this can also be for other regions like for Spain, Japan, Finland etc. where there are certifications noted in the books but not in the website anymore. —IB [ Poke ] 10:02, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

@MrLinkinPark333, Richard3120, and Harout72: Here is an implementation in my sandbox, please have a look and tell me a) if there are any issues and b) if you find this useful enough to go live.
- First,
{{cite Scapolo|page=XXX}}
, a simple template to cite this book with just a few letters. For example: Cher's album, Heart of Stone was certified Platinum in New Zealand.[1]
References
- Second, I fixed the way NZ citations works. http://www.radioscope.net.nz no longer seems to have charts, they were all moved to to https://nztop40.co.nz. So now we have three ways to cite NZ 1) by default it goes to https://nztop40.co.nz with
id
for chart number. 2) settingrecent=false
uses archived http://www.radioscope.net.nz pages and 3) usingrecent=book
uses the book, withid
for page number. Here are some examples:
* {{Cite certification|region=New Zealand|recent=false}} * {{Cite certification|region=New Zealand|recent=book|id=45}} * {{Cite certification|region=New Zealand|type=single|id=2660}}
Creates:
- "Latest Gold / Platinum Albums". Radioscope. 17 July 2011. Archived from the original on 2011-07-24.
- User:Muhandes/cite Scapolo
- "New Zealand single certifications". Recorded Music NZ.
- Finally, this can be used with {{Certification Table Entry}}:
{{certification Table Top}} {{Certification Table Entry|region=New Zealand|title=Heart of Stone|artist=Cher|type=album|award=Platinum|relyear=1989|certyear=1990|recent=false|refname=A}} {{Certification Table Entry|region=New Zealand|title=Heart of Stone|artist=Cher|type=album|award=Platinum|relyear=1989|certyear=1990|recent=book|id=145|refname=B}} {{Certification Table Entry|region=New Zealand|title=Heart of Stone|artist=Cher|type=album|award=Platinum|relyear=1989|certyear=1990|recent=3879|refname=C}} |}

Let me know what you think. --Muhandes (talk) 15:17, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
- Wow I am impressed! - How can i use the book template when i dont know the page number i.e. for Rock with you and wuthering heights? it'd be an incomplete citation. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 17:24, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
- Looks good. The certification-levels for singles released before 1989 have not been implemented yet, correct? Because I came across Bohemian Rhapsody, it still shows 20,000 units for 2x platinum.--Harout72 (talk) 18:13, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Harout72: would the current double platinum level shown on the NZ charts website be at the old level or the current level?
- @MrLinkinPark333: I think you'd still need to check from someone who's got a copy of the book, to make sure that those certifications were given.
- Nice work Muhandes, it looks impressive. It's probably not much of an issue as none of us have a copy of the book, but we should probably avoid trying to include scans of it – Mr. Scapolo has got tetchy on the NZ charts forum whenever anyone copies information from his book without permission, and asked the offenders to remove the material, so we should probably avoid those potential copyright issues where possible. Richard3120 (talk) 18:42, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
- The 2x platinum for Bohemian Rhapsody on NZ chart appearing here should be at the level when the single was released (40,000 units).--Harout72 (talk) 18:51, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
- @MrLinkinPark333:
{{cite Scapolo}}
works without page numbers so you could usecertref
. I would suggest something like

Denmark streaming
On a different side note, I see Denmark also has streaming as a format. Is it the same levels as Track? Reason why I ask is cause Prayer in C went gold in Track while 2x platinum in streaming. See here. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 01:04, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
- @MrLinkinPark333: For Denmark, streaming levels were different from January 2011 when they were instituted, until November 17, 2014 when they were merged into the regular levels, see IFPI Danmark for details and sources. I believe after they were merged, 100 streams count as one sell, see here. The template currently does not support different levels for streaming. I can add them if you need them, just let me know. --Muhandes (talk) 09:02, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Muhandes: I think that would be useful as Prayer in C went x2 platinum for streaming in September 2014. It could also be useful if 2011-2014 songs are certified under streaming, and not track. Thank! (I also see this applies to Without You (David Guetta song)) --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 18:43, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
