Purpose
[edit]This template is intended to be used on year in sub-country division categories (for example, Category:1847 in Oregon Country or Category:1835 in Texas). It creates a "timeline" style table of links to categories for adjacent years before or after it in the same decade (see example below) via {{category series navigation}}, displays relevant portals, and places the category in appropriate parent categories.
Syntax
[edit]{{Year in sub-country division category|<Country>}}
This template takes a single parameter: the name of the country it is in.
Error-checking
[edit]The template checks that the page:
- is a category
- has a title of the form "YYYY in Foo"
If either of those conditions is not met, an error message is displayed and no other output is generated, but the page is added to a tracking category:
- Category:Errors reported by other category header templates (population: 4)
Note that this category is also used by many other category header templates
