Template:Northern Cyprus-note
In 1983, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus unilaterally declared independence from the Republic of Cyprus. The de facto state is not recognised by any UN state except Turkey.
{{Northern Cyprus note}} was created to serve as a disclaimer regarding the Northern Cyprus independence dispute, with the main idea of preventing "de jure/de facto" usage in the related entries.
Suggested usage
[edit]{{Northern Cyprus note}} may be used in articles where "Northern Cyprus", "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus", "Turkish Cypriot State", etc. appears in a geographical or political context.
If the article has an infobox – usually at or near its beginning – and that infobox includes the word and/or phrase "Northern Cyprus", "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus", "Turkish Cypriot State", etc., place
{{efn|name=status}}
immediately after whichever of these appears first in the infobox, without any space between it and the end of the word/phrase. For example:
... Northern Cyprus{{efn|name=status}} ...
This need only be done once.
{{efn|name=status}}
should then be placed similarly after the first instance of "Northern Cyprus" or "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" or "Turkish Cypriot State" etc. in the main body of the article. Again, it need only appear once.
Then add the following immediately before the article's References section (or, if the article already has a Notes section, amend it accordingly):
== Notes ==
{{notes
| notes =
{{efn|name=status|{{Northern Cyprus note}}}}
}}
The article should now include a superscript after the first "Northern Cyprus" or "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" or "Turkish Cypriot State" etc. in its text and/or infobox that is linked to and from {{Northern Cyprus note}} in its Notes section.
