Template:Natura 2000/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This template is used to provide a link to the standard data forms of the Natura 2000 online database of nature protected areas in the territory of the European Union. The Natura 2000 network encompasses over 27,000 individual sites. It is an ecological network of protected areas based on the 1992 Habitats Directive and also incorporating sites designated under the 1979 Birds Directive. Sites can be designated either under the Habitats Directive (pSCIs/SCIs/SACs), the Birds Directive (SPAs), or under both directives.

The website for Natura 2000 can be found here: https://ec.europa.eu/environment/nature/natura2000/data/index_en.htm (Natura 2000 data and maps).

Usage

[edit]

Required parameter

[edit]
  • num: The site code from the database, for example "DE6735301"

Optional parameters

[edit]
  • desc: The site name of the database entry.
  • access-date: The date information was retrieved from the database. Alias: accessdate.
  • mode: defaults to |mode=cs1; set to |mode=cs2 to provide consistency with citation style 2, as produced by {{citation}}.
  • fewer-links: Use |fewer-links=yes to remove repeated links to 'Natura 2000' and 'European Environment Acgency' where the template is used multiple times in an article.
  • short: use |short=yes with |num= to produce an external link with just the site code shown; |short=yes suppresses the display of other parameters.
  • ref: defaults to the work (Natura 2000) and the Site Code number, but can be reset to any value

Examples

[edit]

{{Natura 2000 |num=DE6735301}} gives:

"(DE6735301)". Natura 2000. European Environment Agency.

{{Natura 2000 |num=DE6735301 |desc=Talmoore an der Schwarzen Laaber}} gives:

"Talmoore an der Schwarzen Laaber (DE6735301)". Natura 2000. European Environment Agency.

{{Natura 2000 |num=IE0002172 |desc=Blasket Islands SAC |access-date=26 November 2024 |fewer-links=yes}} gives:

"Blasket Islands SAC (IE0002172)". Natura 2000. European Environment Agency. Retrieved 26 November 2024.

{{Natura 2000 |num=DE6735301 |desc=Talmoore an der Schwarzen Laaber |mode=cs2 |access-date=26 November 2024}} gives:

"Talmoore an der Schwarzen Laaber (DE6735301)", Natura 2000, European Environment Agency, retrieved 26 November 2024

{{Natura 2000 |num=DE6735301 |short=yes}} gives:

DE6735301

If a short citation is required (not to be confused with |short=) and one of the {{harv}} templates or {{sfn}} is used then {{harv|Natura 2000|Site Code number}} will link the short reference to the long one. For example, {{harv|Natura 2000|IE0002172}} produces (Natura 2000 & IE0002172) that links to the 'Blasket Islands SAC' example above. This is different from the standard use of the {{harv}} that links using the parameters 'author' and 'date' or 'year'.
