Stadttheater Minden

[edit]
Stadttheater Minden
Stadttheater Minden
  • ... that Stadttheater Minden (pictured), a municipal theatre without ensemble, produced Romeo and Juliet as part of a youth theatre project, and Tristan und Isolde as part of a Wagner project? Source: several

5x expanded by Gerda Arendt (talk). Self-nominated at 12:48, 16 July 2017 (UTC).

  • @Gerda Arendt: Looks good; well over 5x expanded, long enough, neutral, sourced. How would you feel about:
ALT1: that Stadttheater Minden (pictured), a municipal theatre without ensemble, received international attention for its Richard Wagner project?
It's a big more hookey, and the last clause relates to the middle clause more (small theatre, yet international recognition). Otherwise good to go. General suggestions for the article:
1) What happened in the 90 years spanning 1908 and 1998?
2) The Wagner paragraph is fairly cluttered, as it consists largely of dates, names of productions, and names of people. i'd suggest adding to the introductory sentence by giving a sense of the project (it seems like one Wagner production every 3–4 years?), and perhaps putting there that it received international attention.
3) The Romeo and Juliet paragraph is also pretty cluttered, this run-on sentence being a prime example: "The following season, the project was continued by Schiller's Die Räuber in collaboration with the Ratsgymnasium Minden, again directed by Krauledat and Schneider,[ and Moritz Rinke's Die Nibelungen, in collaboration with the youth club t3." I'd try to break some of that up into separate sentences (is all of it necessary?), and again add a sense of the scope of the R&J project to the introductory sentence.
4) What's "Shakespeare-year 2014"? Does it mean "as if the Romeo and Juliet events took place in 2014," or something else? --Usernameunique (talk) 22:05, 1 August 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for looking closely. Just a few comments, it's past midnight where I live. The Wagner project is what made look, but it's not all they offer. I guess I could make a table, - they do now one a year and want to have a complete Ring in 2019, but that's Zukunftsmusik ;) - Shakespeare-year - I was confused, will fix. - Hook I thought the names of some of the best-known lovers (+ youth) were more attractive (and even bit "quirky") than pure Wagner ;) - The German Wikipedia has no idea of the early years. - more after sleep. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:24, 1 August 2017 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: When I read the first hook before reading the article, it sounded like just some random theatre space for local folks to perform in, like an outdoor performance space that lets high schoolers put on plays. After all, Romeo & Juliet is performed by professionals and amateurs alike. How about splitting the difference:
ALT2: that after receiving international attention for its Wagner project, the Stadttheater Minden (pictured), a municipal theatre without ensemble, put on Romeo and Juliet as part of a youth theatre project? --Usernameunique (talk) 23:16, 1 August 2017 (UTC)
Gerda, taking that thanks as your approval of ALT2. Marking as good to go!
I was able to click thanks even tired, but think ALT2 makes it look as if the youth project followed the Wagner as kind of a consequence, while it's just two different uses of the place. Restoring the lovers over the composer:
ALT3: that the Stadttheater Minden (pictured) is a municipal theatre without ensemble, but received international attention for mounting Tristan und Isolde, and put on Romeo and Juliet with a school?
Also, you should never approve "your own" hook ;) - someone else could do that. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:50, 2 August 2017 (UTC)
Good to know, thanks for the heads up. ALT3 looks good! --Usernameunique (talk) 07:26, 2 August 2017 (UTC)
Could we leave out the school, a bit of an anticlimax, and have

ALT4 ... that the Stadttheater Minden (pictured), a municipal theatre without ensemble, received international attention for its Wagner opera project? - Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:21, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

I am not happy, but who cares. The Wagner has been mentioned in four hooks already (two singers, the conductor and the stage director), - working consistently with a school for months to mount a production and raise interest in future interested theatre-goers seems worthy to me to be at least hinted at. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:39, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: If you are unhappy about the hook you could suggest another, but it doesn't seem sensible to cram too many topics into one hook. If you want to go with the youth project, I suggest you leave out Wagner. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:03, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
May be it's my English, but saying I am not happy doesn't mean that I am unhappy. It's not only black and white. I can live with ALT4, but I am not happy, rather kind of neutral ot grey, and you asked "happy". I am sad that another of my DYK subjects died, and I confess that even I think I "crammed too much" in his hook ;) (top of my talk) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:23, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
