Overall: @SounderBruce: Nice work on this page. The nomination only requires a QPQ before I can approve it Epicgenius (talk) 13:39, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Epicgenius: Added QPQ. Also, do you think this would be a good hook to run on April Fool's Day? SounderBruce 07:23, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
- @SounderBruce: Thanks. Yeah, it might work as an April Fool's hook, since I don't think many people will expect this to be a squirrel bridge. I'm approving any of these hooks, but I can ask the promoter to save this until April Fool's Day. Epicgenius (talk) 14:06, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Epicgenius and SounderBruce: I'll ping Gatoclass for a second opinion (still not totally comfortable walking on my own legs in DYKAPRIL!), but I think this would run better as a standard quirky? theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/they) 09:04, 21 February 2022 (UTC)

None of them would make great April Fool's hooks, but the first three might pass muster I guess. April Fools is likely to be markedly different from previous years given that (a) the C of E, the main contributor to AFD, has been banned from DYK, and (b) the overreaction of the community in imposing that ban, which has clearly had and is likely to continue to have a chilling effect on some of the more provocative hooks. So AFD may turn out to be comparatively tame this year, indeed there is arguably a questionmark over its continued viability. Time will tell I guess. Gatoclass (talk) 13:15, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, it is what it is, I suppose—I'm moving it to dykapril, but we can always release the hold if we amass better hooks in its stead. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/they) 11:01, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
On reflection, I think ALT2 is quite good and will work well as an AFD hook. ALT0 is not too bad either. The other two are not AFD hooks IMO. Gatoclass (talk) 02:17, 24 March 2022 (UTC) Would this be acceptable for AFD?
- ALT1b: ... that an American bridge was dismantled hours before a visiting Japanese mayor could see it? Source: The Daily News SounderBruce 04:44, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
- Given that this missed the mark for April Fools Day, should it be in the quirky slot instead? I could rewrite the hooks if needed. SounderBruce 03:23, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
