"Necessary"

[edit]

I'm confused by this edit summary and deletion (not of my addition, btw), as I do not think anything is "necessary" in the lede. The deleted text does appear, however, appropriate, per wp:lede. http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Yale_Law_School&curid=456406&diff=1257243843&oldid=1257219960 184.153.21.19 (talk) 00:00, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is the edit to which this unregistered editor is referring. The edit summary I used is "unnecessary" as implied but "unnecessarily detailed for the lede." And here is the sentence I removed:
Yale Law School has been recognized as the world’s top law school by the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) since 2020.
The lede already has a sentence that says this school has been the top-ranked school in the U.S. News & World Report ranking since the ranking of law schools was introduced. It also says that the school has the lowest acceptance rate and the highest yield rate of all law schools in the country. Why do we need yet another sentence that makes the same point about the school already made several times? ElKevbo (talk) 00:06, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
