I really dont understand this, somebody please give an example on the use of xml information set.

I agree this article is really unclear and actually more confusing than anything else for someone who does not understand the concept.
I agree, this is article only makes sense to those who already know what it means.
Informal explanation of what XML Infoset is
[edit]XML Information Set is merely a list of common requirements for various XML documents. It doesn't constitute an independent standard, but is rather meant to be used in conjunction with other standards, which specify that a conforming document has to have, e.g., specific attributes, and the meaning of an attribute is defined in XML Information Set. In practice, most W3C XML standards require implementation of various parts of XML Information Set from the documents to conform. Think XPath, XSLT, XQuery etc...
