Requested move 19 July 2018

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved as requested, per the discussion below. It was argued that the disambiguation page should be retained, and with it located at Western Catholic (disambiguation), this leaves the plain title free to either redirect to a primary topic or be converted to an article, as may be determined by editors in subsequent discussion. Western CatholicWestern Catholic (disambiguation)WP:PRIMARYTOPIC being Latin Church (also known as Western Church). Furthermore, per WP:CONSISTENCY with Catholic, redirecting to Catholic Church. Chicbyaccident (talk) 15:51, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have serious issues with this page as a disambiguation page: it actually only has one valid entry (Latin Church) because none of the other articles mention "Western Catholic" at all. I don't know for sure, but I strongly suspect that none of the subjects of the other entries are actually known as "Western Catholic" because if they were the articles would say so. I therefore propose instead that Western Catholic be overwritten with a redirect to Latin Church. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 14:43, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
With your arguments, I would support that as a solution. Chicbyaccident (talk) 15:35, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I'm wondering that two. However, at least step one should be to move it. Chicbyaccident (talk) 08:40, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Sorabino: In which case, perhaps Western Catholic should be converted from the malformed disambiguation page that it is into an article that describes what "Western Catholic" means. Note that Western Catholic Church is currently a redirect to Latin Church. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 15:49, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Problematic move

[edit]

There was no discussion and no consensus on this move. This was a valid and quite useful disambiguation page, and therefore it should be restored. Sorabino (talk) 13:48, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This talk page should not be deleted. Sorabino (talk) 00:34, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Which move are you talking about? The diff you are linking to is a merge of this page with target Catholic Church (disambiguation), which was proposed by another editor several months before and did not bring any opposition. Also, you do not address the fact mentioned in diff comment that most entries on the page are ineligible per WP:DABNOENTRY. The purpose of disambiguation pages is to point readers to pages that may be ambiguous with the page's title, and none of these entries are ever called "Western Catholic". Please, stop trying to monopolize term "Western Catholic" for only one denomination. Sorabino (talk) 21:09, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
