Westdale Helps
[edit]Guys, Westdale Helps is quite an important organization by Westdale Secondary school, I think some people with some knowledge in the matter should write a section about it, maybe under the "Charities" section (if its too big, it may deserve its own section) but i believe that it is absolutely essential for it to be added. Assess for Schools
[edit]Longer version of assess than iusual. Should have nuetral point of view. Imagine your competitors reading "Westdale offers the most university-bound courses in the city, including: Drama, Music, Visual Arts, Media Arts, Economics, GIS, Philosophy, Latin, German, and more". I think they'd say 1. Who says its "the most" and what exactly does "and more" mean? There are a number of places where the article says "the best" "one on the leading ...". It it is then lets have a reference. 75 years of history in one para. Infobox looks good. Picture is very good but much too big. Don't think Wiki ever has a full width picture. Alumni - good list - do try and note why they are there and the ref and that you have the rught Brian Williams linked (example - I haven't checked Pleased to see that there are a few people involved. Stops it being a one person view. Linking dates is not encouraged. Linking charity names however should be checked as I don't know this charity.
In summary. This is a quality approach but it reads too much like it was written by the boss. Its meant to be nueral. Ref list is impressive, but if you want to be an A class site then look at how long the ref lists are for that site. Presently I'd give it a Start but "promise?" a B quite soon. I would rate it as "mid" but may reconsider when I know who Brian Williams was.
Hope this helps.Victuallers 15:34, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Community Involvment
[edit]The following text is cut-and-paste from Westdale Seconday School, which was redirected to this article. Feel free to re-incorporate this text into the new article:
At the foundation of Westdale's learning system is the idea of selflessness and community. Westdale regularly participates in and plays host to numerous fundraisers and awareness rallies. Each year the students organise such events as the Hamilton Food Drive, Keep the Beat, Coffee House, the 30 hour famine and many others with all proceeds being donated to one charity or another.
A notable annual fundraiser that Westdale hosts is the Run for Haiti. This yearly event is held on a saturday in the fall as a funraiser aimed at raising money and awarness about the desperate situation in Haiti. During the event, participants walk, run or jog through westdale village while accepting donations. This even is widely publicized and while hosted by Westdale, is considered an annual Hamilton event.

Canned Goods
[edit]"It is estimated that Westdale students contribute close to 40% of the canned items and goods the food bank hands out at Christmas."
This was true at one time, don't know if it remains correct because of corporate donations.
Source anyone?--Seanh 22:26, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Westdale Crest.gif
[edit]Image:Westdale Crest.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Huge gif that isn't thumbnailing properly
[edit]A major issue with this article is the 2.65 MB GIF image of the school that was added recently (http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/File:WestdalePanorama.gif) which makes this page unusable on slower connections. The problem appears two-fold: 1. Choice of GIF instead of much smaller JPG for the image (why?) and 2. the 'thumbnail' is not working, so the entire 3664px × 1208px image is embedded in the page. Recommended to fix ASAP. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bdiscoe (talk • contribs) 05:47, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
