Passionate and Loyal
[edit]Best left in. Remove this and someone will only request a reference pointing to their passion and loyalty.--Egghead06 (talk) 08:01, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
- I disagree, as per my comment (As "supporters", "passionate" and "loyal" are taken for granted...). It reads very strangely, and would, in my opinion be better as "West Ham United F.C. supporters are the followers of the London-based West Ham United Football Club." If you ditch these superfluous adjectives (which to my ear sound partisan as well as ridiculous – are West Ham supporters who are neither "passionate" nor "loyal" therefore not West Ham supporters?), who is this "someone" who will "only request a reference pointing to their passion and loyalty" when "their passion and loyalty" are not mentioned. I don't quite follow your reasoning... Ericoides (talk) 12:15, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
- You may consider them to be superflous adjectives but they are used when describing West Ham fans, hence the references. No, not all fans are either loyal or passionate. Many move their loyalty from club to club and show no passion in their support. Equally not all West Ham fans have always been loyal or passionate but there are fans thats are. On reflection the terms are at best, wooly and open to interpretation and perhaps belong in a fanzine rather than an encyclopedia. - Gone.--Egghead06 (talk) 16:09, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
