The official name?

[edit]

Can anyone point out to me what is the official name for this league? In this website, [1], it is refered to as the Wearside Football League Premier Division (the addition of the word football is officially correct). Is it right to rename this article in the above mentioned name or leave the name as it is? Any comments would be appreciated. Remember, this league has only ONE division and it is the Premier Division. There are NO divisions below this. --Siva1979Talk to me 03:03, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Close. "Wearside Football League" is correct, and it only has one division. That individual division has no name such as "Premier Division" (see discussion on Gloucestershire County League). In fact when the Wearside League (I will normally slip in to dropping the word "football" from league titles in informal discussions, as will everyone else in the UK!), had two divisions in the past, they were called Divisions One and Two, not Premier. The Wearside has never had a "Premier Division". fchd 05:39, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have added the official image of this league to improve the quality of the article. --Siva1979Talk to me 02:29, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hartlepool Reserves

[edit]

The league's own website gives the 1979/80 champions as "Hartlepool Reserves" - this could be Hartlepool United, but I notice that this league currently has a team in it called simply Hartlepool FC, so it could conceivably have been their reserves (if their first team was playing at a higher level at the time), hence I have removed the link until it can be confirmed exactly which club's reserves it was.... I just checked FCHD and found confirmation that it was indeed Hartlepool United's reserves, so I'll put the link back.......... ChrisTheDude 00:13, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, sorry, I should have written here that I had changed it back after consulting FCHD as well. --Balerion 00:18, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship with the Teesside League

[edit]

Does the Teeside League really "feed" the Wearside? I know a few clubs have moved that way in the last couple of years, but I can't find any reference to any formal link, the Wearside League rulebook doesn't appear to mention it. - fchd 18:01, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't it the case, though, that a lot of the promotion and relegation arrangements below the NLS are informal rather than set in stone? I'd be surprised if there's any sort of formal link between, for instance, the North Hants League and the Basingstoke and District Football League.... ChrisTheDude 21:24, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Pretty much true. I suspect some counties (Devon, Gloucestershire, Somerset, perhaps) may have formalized agreements between sub-NLS leagues. However, if we throw out the Teesside's link with the Wearside League, we're going to have throw out absolutely tons of what we've compiled on the sub-NLS front. --Balerion 21:54, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is no formal link with the Teeside League however member clubs in recnet years have applied to join from both the Teeside League and the Durham Alliance, at this present moment there is no relegation to either league. Journey Back To The Darkside 14:36, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

League seasons

[edit]

Hi Wiki

I want to add season information linked to both the Wearside League and Northern Alliance League pages (http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wearside_Football_League & http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Northern_Football_Alliance) similar to that of this page http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/2017%E2%80%9318_Northern_Football_League which is the wiki page for the Northern Football League's most recent season. The plan is to have the league table with promotion and relegations…..maybe expand it to include a map of where they are based.

Before I start work on this can anyone confirm whether this would be accepted? I had previously created a season page for South Shields FC but this was rejected so I really don’t want to put some effort into these pages for them to be rejected also.
