Garbo
[edit]I dispute the assertion that the rubbish collector is called "garbo" from his street cry; rather the reverse: it's just another case of diminutives in Australian English — a garbage collector is a garbo, pure and simple. If he calls out "garbo" to alert the tardy householder who hasn't put out his bin, it's like the postman calling out "postie" or the milkman "milko". Doug butler (talk) 10:27, 10 May 2023 (UTC)

Article name
[edit]Does anybody in the Anglosphere refer to these people as 'waste collectors'? I appreciate that there are lots of regional terms for the job, but the current title is a horrible anaemic fudge which fails WP:COMMONNAME. Ef80 (talk) 19:46, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
