Proposed merge with Volksmusik

[edit]

If this article doesn't yet sufficiently demostrate that this is manufactured music tailored to an audience through recordings, and not genuine German folk music, then it needs complete rewriting. This is closer to the German equivalent of Nashville Sound.--Wetman 07:58, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

support. The terms are used interchangably in colloquial German anyway. It's mostly belittled because it's cheerfully archaic, not because it's commercialised (heck, modern pop music is no less commercialised than this). 91.0.78.167 14:20, 26 February 2007 (UTC) (User:Ashmodai)[reply]
object. Prudent, well-informed journalists and others tend to distinguish between the two terms in German-speaking countries. Please read the two extensive and articles in the German-speaking Wikipedia. Martg76 17:52, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge from Oom-pah

[edit]

The Oom-pah article does not clearly state what oom-pah music is exactly, but it sounds like it's a nickname of some sort for Volkstümliche Musik. Does anyone know more?

Especially the fact that there is no German Wikipedia article about Oom-pah music makes me doubt that this is actually a valid music genre. Chl (talk) 16:13, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Has been resolved (mostly) by a restructuring of Oom-pah. Chl (talk) 11:52, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
