A question regarding distance.
[edit]What is the distance between the geographic South Pole and Villa Las Estrelles?74.108.126.144 (talk) 20:41, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Measuring with Google Earth, I made it approx 3,100 km. Astronaut (talk) 07:03, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
Not Chilean territory
[edit]This article pretends this settlement is part of Chile. However Antarctica is international territory. The Chilean claim to parts of Antarctica is not recognized by the international community. Also military activity is forbidden by the Antarctic Treaty System, to which Chile is a member. So I think this article is severely biased. Bever (talk) 11:01, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
- Treaty doesn't renounce existing claims, only denies new claims. Also the treaty is more like a declaration, since it has no teeth. --186.67.117.43 (talk) 03:45, 30 December 2015 (UTC)
Climate data
[edit]Cliamte data possibly corrupt. it doesnt match the PDF. i can read Spanish well enough to make out whats going on. its also worth noting that this is a duplicate of the data at Base_Presidente_Eduardo_Frei_Montalva and that's why Im not just going to delete it like i normally do ... for us to be wrong twice in the exact same way suggests that maybe Im still somehow missing something. —Soap— 19:46, 7 February 2020 (UTC)
kindergarten
[edit]perhaps the kindergarten is a preschool rather than a kindergarten in the US sense which only lasts one year. either way, i suspect those kids have graduated by now and it would be statistically unlikely for there to be the exact same number of new students replacing them. perhaps we could just say that there is a preschool. —Soap— 19:46, 7 February 2020 (UTC)
POV
[edit]I as just passing by and noticed this article presents this outpost as Chilean territory, in total breach of the Antarctica International Treaty. The entire article should be rewritten. Silvio1973 (talk) 15:06, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
