WoRMS is not AlgaeBase

In WoRMS

https://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=178849 Aconchulinida De Saedeleer, 1934 (Order)

has

Direct children (1): Family Vampyrellidae Zopf, 1885

and this familie Vampyrellidae Zopf, 1885 itself has

Direct children (1): Genus Thalassomyxa Grell, 1985

But a genus Vampyrella is not known to WoRMS ("marine only" and "extant only" both switsched off).

In AlgaeBase

https://www.algaebase.org/search/genus/detail/?genus_id=52771 Vampyrella Cienkowsky, 1865

is not assigned to any family, order or class, but may be Chromista and sure is Eukaryota.

In NCBI Taxonomy Browser

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Taxonomy/Browser/wwwtax.cgi?mode=Tree&id=1367446&lvl=3&srchmode=1 Vampyrellida
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Taxonomy/Browser/wwwtax.cgi?mode=Info&id=1367446&srchmode=1 Vampyrellida West 1901 (order)

includes Vampyrellidae (family), which contains

  1. Vampyrellidae (family), including: Vampyrella (genus)
  2. Vampyrellida clade B5 (clade), including: Thalassomyxa (genus)

We see, Vampyrella (genus) and whole Vampyrellidae (family) are classified to order Vampyrellida here.

The article's text states

(Aconchulinida) contains few genera, possibly including only Penardia[2], but usually also considered to encompass all of the Vampyrellidae (the family containing genus Vampyrella).

However there is no reference provided for this statement, which contradicts NCBI taxonomy.

Also EOL (NATIONAL MUSEUM of NATURAL HISTORY, Smithsonian)

https://eol.org/pages/72899/names Vampyrella Cienkowsky 1865

states Vampyrellida as the order containing Vampyrellidae.

UniProt

https://www.uniprot.org/taxonomy/325674 Vampyrellidae (FAMILY)

does not verify Vampyrellidae (fam.) as member of Aconchulinida, but states also

Sar › Rhizaria › Endomyxa › Vampyrellida › Vampyrellidae

Finally Hess et&nbsp. (2012), section "Taxonomic Revisions and Diagnoses", states (citation):

"The new results, more precisely the phylogenetic position of the genus Vampyrella, gave reason to revise the order Vampyrellida West, 1901 and to use it for the designation of the endomyxan clade containing the genera Vampyrella, Leptophrys, Theratromyxa, Platyreta and ‘Arachnula’. Previously, this clade was designated as ‘Novel Clade 8’ [Bass, 2014] and later tentatively as Aconchulinida De Saedeleer, 1934 [Bass, 2018]. An extensive literature research, however, suggested the adoption of the older and better defined ordinal name Vampyrellida for this clade. To establish a reasonable subdivision of the Vampyrellida the family Vampyrellidae Zopf, 1885 is emended and assigned to a monophyletic subgroup comprising all sequenced strains of the genus Vampyrella, including its type species, V. lateritia. For the morphologically similar genera Leptophrys, Theratromyxa and Platyreta the family Leptophryidae fam. nov. is erected."
Result:

Both references provided in the first sentece of the intro do not verify Aconchulinida as the order containing Vampyrellidae/Vampyrella.

Hess et&nbsp. (2012), EOL, NCBI Taxonomy, and UniProt are references for Vampyrellida instead.

This is not in contradiction with AlgaeBase and WoRMS.

Als, WoRMS compared with NCBI Taxonomy supports Aconchulinida as a synonym of Vampyrellida (the latte beeing the true name according to Hess et al.), as they have the common genus Thalassomyxa (however poorly confirmed).

So we might have as a consensus:
Subphylum: Endomyxa

  • Order: Vampyrellida, mit (nicht sehr gut belegtem) Synonym Aconchulinida
    • Family: Vampyrellidae (incl. Vampyrella)
    • Family: Leptophryidae (incl. Leptophrys, Theratromyxa, and Platyreta)
    • Clade: Vampyrellida clade B5 (incl. Thalassomyxa)
