NPOV query
[edit]As with most other student organisations across Australia, the UQ Union has been actively involved in the fight against voluntary student unionism.
- Can you reliably quantify whether or not an organisation has been doing the opposing "actively"?
- Doesn't "the fight against X" usually get used by people who have a POV about X?
- Would "has opposed" therefore be better than "has been actively involved in the fight against"?
- Does "As with most other student organisations across Australia" sound a bit superfluous?

- 1) They have been at the heart of the Brisbane demonstrations (unsurprisingly, as the proposed laws would wipe out almost all their funding); their education collective would almost certainly have organised the protests. 2) Feel free to change that; I see your point there. 3) There's a difference between changing your website to say "we are against VSU" and coordinating demonstrations in a capital city, I think. Feel free to change the wording if you can think of a better way of putting it, but "has opposed" doesn't really cut it for me. 4) Not really; it provides some context by making clear to the unfamiliar that this doesn't just affect UQ. Representation
[edit]I've added a bit about representation to the university, which is a core function of the union. Good save on the article Ambi. Natgoo 12:01, 13 November 2005 (UTC)
Vandalism
[edit]I am not sure who keeps vandalising the page to say that Fresh is liberal, but could you please stop being so childish and bitter. Please be mature enough to stop trashing the page. Fresh is a non politically affiliated group, which strives only to serve University students. While some members may be liberal in their personal views, this is not a stance in any way corroborated by the party. It is entirely apolitical, with many elected members having strong non-liberal views. There is a DISTINCT DIFFERENCE between what individual Fresh candidates personally believe, and what the party stands for. The only people that label Fresh as "Liberal" are members of alternate groups. No one within Fresh suggests anything conservative about any motion or step the union takes. See the Fresh website to confirm from current candidates that Fresh "is not political" and "does not serve party political interests." What else can we possibly do to stop this slander?
Response: LOL. http://www.uqlc.com.au/ "The UQLC is one of the most successful Liberal clubs in Australia having won office in the UQ Union three years in a row. We are the only Liberal Club to run a student union in the country." What was that, sorry? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.14.185.145 (talk) 07:17, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
Update
[edit]With the UQ Union Rebrand and a variety of things changing over the past few years, I think this page is in dire need of an update. I plan on putting a few, more relevant, things in and would very much appreciate some help. 115.64.200.208 (talk) 11:10, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
