Starting?
[edit]Tube drawing (like other kinds of drawing, like making optical fibers) seems like it wouldn't work -- it seems like the tube would just snap or the wall blow out on one side or whatever. But I've seen video of it and it seems to work. But how do they start a draw? If I have 3 meters of 10mm-diameter steel tube, how do I start it through an 9mm-diameter die? I obviously can't just hammer from the other end of the tube. I suppose I could put a collett a few mm away from the starting end, grab hard and force it into the die... How does this work? Can it be done without loosing the beginning of the tube? —Ben FrantzDale (talk) 11:40, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
