Merge?

[edit]

I see someone proposed merging the Topper novels into Thorne Smith.

One of the problems with Wikipedia is that it's so current-rage pop-centric. We'll break out articles about the most trivial songs of the lamest albums of obscure Indy bands, but we can't afford an article of three books that sold millions of copies, spawned at least three movies, and a television series?

If we're a true encyclopedia, we need to recognize that some things happened before our time period and this is one worth keeping.

While UnicornTapestry makes valid points, the Topper books page has so little content (and several unaddressed Wikipedia issues) that - in my view - it hardly justifies its existence. There is more relevant information on IMDB, while the Wikipedia entry for the Topper film shows what could be done with the Topper books page if contributors particularly cared so to do.

I enjoy Thorne Smith, and in his day he was hugely popular, but I feel anyone after Wikipedia information on the Topper books would not be unduly concerned to find it only in the Thorne Smith entry. To aid such seekers, I've added links to Thorne Smith on the Topper disambiguation page.
