Cleanup

[edit]

I've flagged this article for a cleanup. As it is, it reads too much like a plot summary, and could use some structure, and more focus. I've fixed up the spelling and grammar, but it still needs work. -- Ozphactor 07:01, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Merging

[edit]

Added cleanup tag again. Article contains lots of original research, should be shortened. Also, I suggest it to be merged with The Riddles (Harry Potter). --213.35.207.238 16:43, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree that they should be merged, but I think it's the best solution to delete the "The Riddles" article and put the missing information (more details regarding their death), in the Tom Riddle Sr. article, because most of the information in the other article is already in this one.
  • I agree, the proper title is Tom Riddle, it is all about him, not his family in general. However, there is also an issue about how much this concerns The House of Gaunt too. That is essentially telling the same story agin, but from the perspective of Merope. It is arguable that the whole lot should be in one article discussing Voldemorts family. Dates

[edit]

I corrected the deathdate back to 1943, even though it contradicts the movie. But the movie has it's differences to the book anyway (in fact, the gravestone had some glaring mistakes before it was fixed), and it is a fact from the book, that Voldemort already killed his family before his seventh year in Hogwarts. According to the timeline accepted by JK Rowling, this was around 1943. Neville Longbottom 22:09, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Merope's enchantment of Tom

[edit]

If I am remembering correctly, Dumbledore told Harry that he could only speculate about how Merope enchanted Tom and led him to marry her. Dumbledore thought it might have been a love potion, but he really didn't know. He also wasn't sure what exactly led to Tom leaving Merope. Kam Tonnes 01:01, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
