Did Fanning die in 1872 or 1873? Category doesn't match first line. Rlquall 21:38, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Checked sources, both dates were wrong, it was 1874. Updated both. Alan Canon 20:56, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm uncomfortable with the depiction of Fanning as the prime mover in a split that took place decades after his death. The many splits in the Restoration Movement were complex events that unfolded over time and involved many differences of opinion. In short, the diverse sources of these schisms should encourage us to approach with skepticism any attempt to blame Fanning. Right now, the article makes it seem as if he were the driving force, a church-splitter by nature, yet these assertions simply grant him too much agency.
