Backup crew
[edit]With Kopra's injury, questions will likely arise regarding backup crews. STS-4#Backup crew currently states:
- From STS-4 onwards, NASA halted the appointment and training of complete backup flight crews. Instead, individual flight crew members may have designated backups who could take their place within the prime crew. The decision on whether to appoint a reserve crew member is made on a per-flight basis by flight management teams at Johnson Space Center. Consequently, the last NASA flight to have a full-time backup crew was STS-3.
Sourced information about how often backups are assigned for mission specialists would be good to have. -- ToET 17:49, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
- Mission specialists almost never have a backup crew member assigned. Usually only payload specialists have backups. I am not sure if that information is even available or exists, or if it would even be appropriate to add to a mission specific or the article of an astronaut.--NavyBlue84 02:26, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

The Big Boys
[edit]Why does not the article mention that Tim Kopra was a horn player for a punk rock band Big Boys? This fact of Colonel Kopra's biography without doubt would be of interest to his fans. See the reference here http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Big_Boys. Ronniesafarov (talk) 18:06, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
