This note is in response to the tag: needs additional references and may not be notable enough. I added a reference to an article in a major non-profit sector newspaper that refers to The Lawrence Foundation and a reference to Guidestar.org which posts the tax returns filed by The Lawrence Foundation with the IRS. All non-profit organizations are required to make their tax returns part of the public record and should provide sufficient verification of some of the facts stated in this article. It should also be noted that since 2000, over 3000 non-profit organizations have applied to and communicated with The Lawrence Foundation. These organizations refer to The Lawrence Foundation and its grantmaking in their paper-based and Web-based annual reports, newsletters and other communications. There didn't seem to be an easy way to summarize or display this information.

Thanks for your comments. The second reference was not intended to provide a reference to the foundation, but rather a 3rd party reference for the basis of where the money came from to fund the foundation. In the foundation world, source of funds, and how the founders got into the grantmaking world is a very common question. I'm not quite sure why you took out that reference since I believe it is okay to have references that support statements in the article. I've put the reference back. Hopefully, that is okay. My bad, is that in the editing process, I zigged when I should have zagged, and didn't put in the references from the two newspapers that talk about the foundation in the broader context of grantmaking and philanthropy. One article is from the Chronicle of Philanthropy and the other is from the Los Angeles Times. Hopefully, these articles, along with my previous comments, will address your concerns of notability. Well, this is certainly better, although both articles are more about philanthropic process and financing more than being about the Lawrence Foundation itself and it's specific activities. The reason I removed the other reference was that it did not mention the foundation, just the business deal that eventually led to its founding, and information about the deal can be found at the internal link to Trillium, but that's not really a big deal either way.
