question

[edit]

Why does it have the flag of Arizona on country, on the movie table —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.162.211.60 (talk) 03:53, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

This article is more of an AD then an actual article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.45.45.228 (talk) 23:55, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If so, what do you suggest on improvements? --ZSoraz 00:03, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Should we really give away what happens after they defeat the Evil Thing? I think just finishing it as "...or not?" is enough. Anyone agree or disagree (give a reason :-))? --ZSoraz 02:32, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Evil Thing sounds and look like Orga! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sonic,Pikachu, and Snorunt (talkcontribs) 23:38, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not A Comedy

[edit]

"This 2000s comedy film-related article..." Uhh...no. This film is more of a DCOM or a TEENick type horror movie. —Preceding unsigned comment added by John R. Sellers (talkcontribs) 15:27, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It isn't a DCOM or TEENick movie. It is just a regular movie. Tcatron565 22:02, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My point is that it's far from a comedy.

Or not?

[edit]

At the end of the synopsis it says "... or not?" That doesn't seem very encyclopedic to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.29.77.140 (talk) 22:03, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It isn't. Tcatron565 22:02, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Hauntinghour.PNG

[edit]

Image:Hauntinghour.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Volume One?

[edit]

Where does the "Volume One" come from? IMDb doesn't list it. The image in the article doesn't have it. The bolded first mention of the title in the article doesn't have it. Where does the Volume One come from and should it be in the title of this article? -Gohst (talk) 21:53, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unbacked claim

[edit]

I believe these statements to be false:

The Evil Thing plays a very important part in the story. The Evil Thing appears and acts the way it does because thats how Max imagined it to be.[citation needed] No one really knows it's true form. Like The Bogarts in Harry Potter, It's a shapeshifter so its true form is unknown.[citation needed]

Even if they weren't false, comparing it to Harry Potter isn't very encyclopedic.... of course, neither is the rest of the article either.

But, all that I can really do myself if remove these lines. Here goes. SirVenom (talk) 04:14, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Infobox
  •  Resolved BTW, it looks good but "Cartoon Network" shouldn't be there because it only aired the film but it didn't distributed it.
  •  Resolved What's the production studio?
Lead
  •  Resolved Typically, the lead seems incomplete as it doesn't include the plot. Please add atleast two to three sentences synopsis about the film.
  •  Resolved I would suggest to you that you need to specify the film is an American production. Instead of "R. L. Stine's The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It is a 2007 horror fantasy family film based on..." please use "a 2007 American horror fantasy family film..." Link "family film" or "children's film"
Plot
  •  Resolved I never saw the film but did Cassie moved into the neighborhood with her family? If yes, please say like "Cassie (Emily Osment) is a thirteen-year-old goth girl who just moved with her family to a new neighborhood and new school." or to something else. If not, don't change it around. But of course she did, she's 13. :)
  •  Resolved "On the way to the library..." Is this the school library? If yes, please specify. If not, please say like "a library." it's confusing.
  •  Resolved "in the middle of her writing a report" change to "in the middle of her report writing"?
  •  Resolved By the way, who is Priscilla here. You need to introduce her first. It's somewhat confusing to those (like me) who're not familiar on the film.
  •  Resolved Same as the previous, who is Sean? Please introduce him.
  •  Resolved "He leaves them with only a riddle..." change to "He leaves them a riddle"?
  •  Resolved "save the pizza delivery guy..." I think the guy here should be changed to "man" to make it sound more encyclopedic.
  •  Resolved PS Please fix the plot more. I was confused about "The Evil Thing". What does it look like? Does it have multiple heads? If yes, please describe how monstrous it is. Also, describe on what instances how will the monster come to life (The plot said that the monster will live if the book will be read aloud. Also, I've added that when you think about its monsters, it will come to life. Is that right? Please make that clearer. Thanks) Also, describe where the parents went before they got home. I think they were from a party.
  •  Resolved "They burn the book and rid themselves of The Evil Thing." This is actually confusing. They rid themselves? Describe what they actually rid?
Cast
  •  Resolved I have few question here. "Tobin Bell as The Stranger" Was Bell really credited as "The Stranger". If yes, don't change it but don't capitalize the T. If not, you can change it to "Tobin Bell as [the] store owner" or to something else.
Production
  •  Resolved Please link the "Chronicles of Narnia" for those people who're not familiar.
Release
  •  Resolved Only with the "Television" sub-section. Do you have any reports how many viewers watched the film? If you don't have, it's just OK.
  •  Resolved Was the film rated by the MPAA? If yes, please add their rating. If not, don't mind this. But of course it was rated.
Reception
  •  Resolved I would suggest to make this as a new section and merge the "Award nominations" here. About the reviews, make another section and name it like "Critical response".
  • plus Added Example:
== Reception ==
=== Critical response ===
''Add reviews here''

=== Accolades ===
''Add nominations here'' (But change it to a paragraph and not in bullet form to make it more encyclopedic)
  •  Resolved I've change this section a bit. Please don't italicize the "DVD Talk" and "About.com". Also, please link them. Thanks.
References
  •  Resolved Ref 6. Don't italicize "Common Sense Media".
  •  Resolved Ref 7. Don't italicize "DVD Talk"
  •  Resolved Ref 8. Don't italicize "Cinema Blend"
  •  Resolved Ref 10. Replace "Young Artist Award" with "Young Artist Association". BTW, I should have told you that you must also not italicize this but I've already fixed it. Thanks.
  •  Resolved Ref 11. Don't italicize "Amazon" and change it to "Amazon.com".
  •  Resolved Ref 12. Don't italicize "DVD Active"
  •  Resolved Ref 15. Don't italicize "About.com"
  •  Resolved Ref 16. Don't italicize "Steeltown Entertainment"

BTW, thank you SL93 for improving the article a lot. I think it will pass soon. Thanks and have a nice day! :) Mediran (tc) 08:15, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm confused about the references. Template:Cite Web automatically italicizes the sources. SL93 (talk) 08:30, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind. I figured it out. SL93 (talk) 08:33, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks.

I think that I took care of all the problems. The film never gave any type of name for the store owner, but IMDb lists him as The Stranger. It might be in the film credits, but I don't have the DVD. SL93 (talk) 09:02, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's OK! Kind of strange but I guess Bell was really credited as "stranger." Mediran (tc) 02:17, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have foxed the plot. Reading it aloud does not bring the monster to life in itself, but it makes it so that more people could think about it, which thinking about it brings it to life. I have also described the monster. SL93 (talk) 19:55, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure how to fix the plot hole at the end of the film's plot. By plot hole, I mean that the dad shouldn't have brought it back to life by reading it out loud. The store owner specifically mentioned that only thinking about it brings it to life. SL93 (talk) 20:04, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I visited the Haunting Hour Wiki and I saw that it was stated there like in this article that the "father" brought the monster back to life by reading the book. Mediran (tc) 07:30, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Final thoughts

Sorry about the delay in passing this article as I was too busy in the last few days. Anyway, I think all of my comments above have been addressed and checked with the criteria. By that, this article is good to go. Also, I would like to thank you SL93 for the improvements and effort you gave in making this a good article. Thanks and have a nice day! :) Mediran (tc) 07:30, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This article's sources have many problems

[edit]

Hello, many sources used in this page are not accessible. It must be fixed.—Pórokhov Порох 19:21, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there is anything that can be fixed. Webpages don't always stay up indefinitely. SL93 (talk) 21:05, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
