Album Art
[edit]The album art for the album has been released. I don't know how to upload, so I'll give a link Here --24.68.204.208 (talk) 02:31, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
2011
[edit]all the dates here say 2010 but should say 2011 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.110.80.51 (talk) 22:03, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- Um, no? 2010 is not yet over; the album will be released in three weeks. Yves (talk) 22:07, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Yeah but most singles will be released in 2011, it's only the time that was released this year, but all the other songs wont be released until 2011, so you can consider the beginning as a 2011 album, right?
Entire album available now on US(?) streaming service Rhapsody

Funk?
[edit]The song Fashion Beats have a distinctive funk guitar at the end, and Don't Stop The Party has a very funky slap-bass. Should we add funk to genres?
- If we find a reliable source, we certainly can. :) Yves (talk) 21:57, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Alternative Cover
[edit]--91.154.102.95 (talk) 16:17, 8 January 2011 (UTC) We should add a alternative cover, its the same but the backround is black and avatars backround has different colors, i think its a european cover, because i bought the album in london or it maybe be a deluxe edition im not sure. can somebody add this?
The Beginning alternative cover
--91.154.102.95 (talk) 19:08, 8 January 2011 (UTC) I agree, we should add the alternative cover, on The Black Eyed Peas website they have the both covers and there twitter photo they have the black cover instead of the white.
--91.154.102.95 (talk) 19:13, 8 January 2011 (UTC) I agree, I think we should have the black cover as the main and the white cover as the alternative cover, just google: The Black Eyed Peas The Beginning and there a double moore black covers than white.
- Why did you just agree with yourself twice? The alternate cover is not needed; the only difference is in colours. Yves (talk) 19:14, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
- lol! No, there is little difference. The same thing on Katy Perry's Teenage Dream where there is an alt. cover with the title of the album, but it was not used on Wiki cuz there's like no difference. --Cprice1000talk2me 19:17, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
Just Cant Get Enough Cover
[edit]--91.154.103.59 (talk) 13:42, 23 January 2011 (UTC) Just Cant Get Eenough cover art a has been released.
Just Cant Get Enough Cover Art
- Yeah, I uploaded it here: [1] --TRyudo (talk) 17:05, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- I included it in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.202.168.226 (talk) 11:58, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- I have reverted your good faith edit. The inclusion of a single cover in an album cover is not fair use. Yves (talk) 17:48, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- I included it in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.202.168.226 (talk) 11:58, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- I suggest we wait until Just Can't Get Enough gets a new article. You can then add the cover there — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hijotee (talk • contribs) 22:44, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- I agree. This is usually how it's done. Yves (talk) 01:50, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Next single?
[edit]I think it's that time when the next single is gonna be announced. The Peas are announcing them on three month intervals, from November to February is three months, so 3 months from February is May, so can we expect a new single this month? Giggett (talk) 18:50, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
Single
[edit]A few days ago it said their next single will be The Best One Yet. Is this true? (i hope not bad choice)
- i heard that they will release their forth and last single from the album on september/october. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.32.248.81 (talk) 23:51, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well at this rate, we should of already got a single by now, based on their patterns using 3 month intervals:
- November
- February
- May
- August?

Deluxe Edition Cover
[edit]Can someone put a picture of the alternative cover(deluxe edition),because it is very different from the standard.. here it is : http://www.google.gr/imgres?q=the+beginning+black+eyed+peas&um=1&hl=el&tbm=isch&tbnid=nwgrwxfHaW7LYM:&imgrefurl=http://mediafiremp3.com/album/2/Black%2BEyed%2BPeas%2BThe%2BBeginning&docid=y-WZ1tGjeH367M&w=500&h=500&ei=EnuITsqJNZHEtAb2p8ngAQ&zoom=1&biw=1024&bih=567&iact=rc&dur=110&page=1&tbnh=119&tbnw=121&start=0&ndsp=17&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&tx=65&ty=40
Someday
[edit]The Black Eyed Peas made a song called "Someday" for the soundtrack of "Knight and Day" but it isn't on their Album "The Beginning". They made 2 different songs called "Someday" in 2010, one for "The Beginning" and one for the soundtrack!
- Yes, there is a song called Someday in this album, but it's not the same song from "Knight and Day". I don't know why? Giggett (talk) 16:32, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
SINGLES
[edit]THREE (3) ARE THE OFFICIAL SINGLES FROM THE BEGINNING...STOP ADDING XOXOXO OR WHENEVER AS THE LAST SINGLES BECAUSE THEY AREN'T..STOP/..!I A BEP FAN ( PEABODY ) AND I KNOW THAT.
Genre
[edit]Wow. Lots of socks and edit warring here. Here's what we have, source-wise.
- Entertainment Weekly - "Genre: Pop", "Every song is piled high with sticky pop melodies, slick hip-hop rhythms..." Entertainment Weekly is unquestionably a reliable source. The genre is pop, with a mention of hip-hop.
- Hip Hop DX - One song "remind(s) us of their Hip Hop roots". That one song reminds them of a genre is quite different than saying the album is that genre. No help here.
- popdose - "Black Eyed Peas used to be a reasonably enjoyable (if not especially groundbreaking) rap group.", "...the group’s transition from its early days as a hip-hop troupe in the Native Tongues mold into the biggest pop group in the universe.", "Seven years since their initial pop breakthrough...", "2008’s The E.N.D. ... found the Peas dropping just about all the ties they had to hip-hop and staking their claim as purveyors of shiny pop jingles...", "...The Beginning ... completes their transition into a Euro-flavored dance/pop outfit...", "There’s a decidedly European dance flavor...", "...modern pop music...". Looks like popdose is simply a blog. No help, per WP:SPS.
- avclub - "...the former hip-hop group went pop...", "...anything resembling a rap verse is pared down to an associative chant...". AVClub is the review arm of The Onion. Previous discussion at the reliable source noticeboard has deemed it reliable. Weakly: pop.
- The Guardian - "Pop and rock", "Hip hop". Certainly reliable. Weakly: Pop rock and hip hop.
From that I take: Pop (per EW and AVClub, with a dash of The Guardian), hip hop is weakly mentioned by The Guardian, but specifically trashed by AVClub.
This type of thing has gone one of two ways in the past: Nobody comments, I make the change and suddenly everyone has comments. After a bit of that, I open some sock cases, clear those out and make the changes. The second possibility is there are a few comments, we weed out the socks and I make the changes. I'm fine with either one. Either outcome ends the edit warring here and makes it a bit easier to clean up the other articles those same socks are working on now.
Comments? - SummerPhDv2.0 02:39, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
EW's top bit should not be used as it is a lot like AllMusic's side bar which mustn't be used for genresJoesob (talk) 22:01, 13 July 2016 (UTC) Joesob has been blocked as a sock of MariaJayHicky.- Why must AllMusic's sidebar not be used? Does that same reason apply to the heading of an EWreview? In any case, the body of the EW article also says "pop". - SummerPhDv2.0 23:43, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
I read somewhere that AllMusic was reviewing a album that their sidebar put it down as a reggae album but their review said that the album wasn't reggae. I think that's why we go for a review that states it in its reviewJoesob (talk) Joesob has been blocked as a sock of MariaJayHicky.- Something you read somewhere about a different part of a different source may or may not apply here. I see no indication of any problem with any part of the EW article. If you would like to state that a particular bit of an otherwise obviously reliable source is somehow not reliable, I'd suggest the Reliable sources noticeboard. - SummerPhDv2.0 13:20, 14 July 2016 (UTC)

A similar discussion regarding another BEP album is at Talk:Monkey_Business_(album)#Genre. - SummerPhDv2.0 14:43, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
Here's what I found to be useful info for albums as well as this http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Rated_R_(Rihanna_album)&diff=635118627&oldid=635117811Joesob (talk) 15:04, 14 July 2016 (UTC) Joesob has been blocked as a sock of MariaJayHicky.
More screamingly obvious IP socks from MariaJaydHicky. All edits reverted, per WP:EVADE. Now the article is semi-protected. - SummerPhDv2.0 14:19, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
Move discussion in progress
[edit]There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Alive (The Black Eyed Peas song) which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 10:33, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
Genre, again
[edit]It would seem I missed an edit or two at some point. A very prolific sock who simply cannot understand that the Black Eyed Peas in general -- and a few of their albums in particular -- are pop. A few more socks have been blocked and I'd expect a few more to show up.
I have restored pop, as discussed above under "Genre". Anyone who wishes to dispute this, feel free to discuss the issue here. - SummerPhDv2.0 00:29, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
- By "anyone", of course, I mean anyone not currently blocked or indefinitely banned from the site. WP:EVADE applies in other cases. - SummerPhDv2.0 04:44, 24 July 2017 (UTC)
SSDD: Banned editors are still banned. Sources which do not discuss a genre are still not sources for that genre. A guideline discussing Allmusic's sidebar still does not discuss EW's sidebar. - SummerPhDv2.0 03:07, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
- Now indefinite protection. - SummerPhDv2.0 00:31, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
Please note the genre warrior is back using the same tired sidebar argument discussed above under "Genre". - SummerPhDv2.0 16:52, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
- @SummerPhDv2.0: Hello, the genre that you removed was hip-pop, not hip hop; I added that genre before arguing with Maria's sock because the source from The Guardian says "As examples of upscale hip-pop you won't mind hearing endlessly on the radio, most of the songs hit the mark – even Fashion Beats, with its superfluous verse in French". I thought that source was explicit enough; now I would like to know your opinion. Blueberry72 (talk) 17:22, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
- My opinion is that discussing anything with Maria encourages her. Anything she does, I revert. When she uses an account or continues with an IP, I have them blocked. Then I ignore her. If she encourages someone else to make a change, I generally take a hard line against someone editing on behalf of a banned editor. The source calls some songs hip-pop, not the album. This is an argument she has freely used to remove a genre she dislikes, so it's "interesting" that she doesn't like it here. - SummerPhDv2.0 17:40, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
Genre, yet again
[edit]This source does not say the album is hip hop. It says, "You can probably imagine what it sounds like: minimalist drum machine beats, techno-lifted synth pulses, plinky keyboard hooks, retro-fitted hip-hop callbacks, pitch-shifted vocals, and songs that chain your brain to the furnace and beat you over the head with their cursed affability."
While I can see an argument for saying this source calls it techno (it throws the word around enough but never quite labels the album), it is a student newspaper, fitting neither our general standards for reliable sources nor our limitation on reviews ("professional"). - SummerPhDv2.0 12:10, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
- It is, of course, Maria once again. - SummerPhDv2.0 12:31, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
