- Tamil films were produced since World War 1. When was the first Telugu film released? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.85.1.2 (talk) 15:01, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- - whats the relevence to the size of an industry ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.93.87.25 (talk) 08:54, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- Superstardom is more entrenched and well established in Tollywood and the political nexus goes back to 1940s — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.85.1.2 (talk) 15:01, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- - again, whats the relevence to size of an industry ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.93.87.25 (talk) 08:54, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- Actresses are paid lesser in Kollywood than Tollywood bcoz of the omnipresent superstardom culture in Kollywood. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.85.1.2 (talk) 15:01, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- - once again, whats the relevence to the size of the industry ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.93.87.25 (talk) 08:54, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- Almost all technical skills, hi-tech facilities and print processing for Tollywood are present in Kollywood only — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.85.1.2 (talk) 15:01, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- - nonsense. KRRISH used Prasad EFX/VFX. considering its the most 'hi-tech' of Indian Films to date, Tollywood is clearly equipped with 'hi-tech facilities'. FWIW, Prasad EFX/VFX is part of Prasad Labs - very much part of Tollywood. visit www.efxmagic.com you will see for yourself. Next time you make a wild allegation, be prepared to back it up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.93.87.25 (talk) 08:54, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Merger proposal
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- To merge Tamil Movie History into the relevant section on Tamil cinema on the basis of a majority decision. Klbrain (talk) 06:11, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
I propose that Tamil Movie History be merged into Tamil cinema § History. The former article is on the same topic and has issues as mentioned in the tags. MT TrainTalk 06:39, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
- Support merger — The article, Tamil Movie History in its current state, does not satisfy WP:GNG. Also, per nom.
Regards, SshibumXZ (Talk) (Contributions). 15:08, 8 March 2018 (UTC) - Support merger — I support merger, Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:23, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
- Support merger per above.Johnbod (talk) 16:05, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
- Support merger — I support the above merger,Balasubramanianrajaram (talk) 12:35, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
- Merge per above. EelamStyleZ (talk) 23:26, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
- Refuse strongly to merge, user mvbsravi strongly refuse to merge these two pages due to its content value, they both are unique. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mvbsravi (talk • contribs) 20:15, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
Comments
[edit]- The Tamil cinema § History section also has issues, in that the Tamil cinema § Early exhibitors subheading also is sparsely referenced and borders on excessive trivia, in my personal opinion. It is possible for some expert(s) to work on having a main article Tamil Movie History, which is based on cleaned up information plus some of information from Tamil cinema § History, which has undue focus in the Tamil cinema article. A reference can be made to Tamil Movie History from the heading Tamil cinema § History. VasuVR (talk, contribs) 07:55, 10 March 2018 (UTC)

- Having closed the discussion, I attempted the merge, but there is so little unique content at Tamil Movie History, and none of it is referenced, that I've redirected rather than merged. Klbrain (talk) 06:11, 6 August 2019 (UTC)

Change first sentence to: Tamil cinema is the Tamil language film industry in India or other Tamil-speaking countries.
please, because India is not the only Tamil-speaking country that makes films. Thanks. Kimberly Possible (talk) 16:13, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- Not done for now: Could not find that sentence. --B dash (talk) 07:04, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
