Split made December 2024
[edit]See Talk:Syrian Armed Forces#SAAF is now a historical (defunct) organisation. Buckshot06 (talk) 07:39, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
A lot more should be moved (and not just copied, but moved) here. And the article needs an infobox.
- The term "Syrian Arab Armed Forces" needs a reference in connection with any periods, for example from 1946 or 1963 or whichever, to (2024?). Buckshot06 (talk) 09:11, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
New Army info
[edit]it seems the transitional government has started the process of creating a new army and armed forces, though obviously very slowly, article should be updated to reflect that and also renamed if possible, I also heard Ahmed Al-Sharaa/Jolani referred to as commander in chief though idk if it's just a translation of his title as emir of HTS or if he's actually the commander in chief of the Syrian army now, would love answers, thanks. - All such data has been added at Syrian Armed Forces, where available. Twitter, AJE, and Google Translate are your friends here. Right now my estimate is that there are very general ostensibly-official directorates (see the mentions at the Western Syria fighting article) which are actually collections of civil war militia groups. There is no evidence as yet that thorough depot entry, reallocation of personnel into any new branches, and training are underway; the new authorities are right now having to squash threats with the resources available to them. - The best and most up to date information is being added at Syrian transitional government. Happy [Christian] New Year!! Buckshot06 (talk) 20:59, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
Why is the rebel flag being used
[edit]The usage of the rebel flag is a little bit concerning. I thought this article was supposed to represent the armed forces of Syria under the Ba'athist government? Someone please tell me why the rebel flag is used instead of the former flag with two stars. TootsieRollsAddict (talk to me pls I am lonely) 14:47, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
