On Future Affiliation Speculation

[edit]

For the record, I find it hard to believe any ACC school would pay so high a buyout to leave. Frankly I would've believed that any speculation on future conferences hinges on who is currently in each of the conferences. Pitt, Notre Dame, and Virginia Tech are much more in the fold for the ACC now than they ever were out the door. Chances are much higher that they stay in the ACC than bolt, and that the SEC and Big Ten would expand again from the plains, if anywhere. Texas Christian could build on its recent success straight into the SEC with West Virginia, and as was the case in Virginia back in the 2000s, Iowa may have a hard fit if Iowa State were not included, as Kansas would with Kansas State. From there I would guess one of three options: Missouri really does still want to be in the Big Ten and transfers to where the AAU schools are, leaving Baylor to the SEC; Rutgers joins the Big Ten, leaving Baylor as the only school from a current big-five conference not included; or Baylor joins the Big Ten as a slight misfit. In any case, the reversions have proven the entire concept of future speculation to be just that, speculation. My opinions are my own and belong more on a blog or something like that. The section is unencyclopedic and has therefore been removed. Tklalmighty (talk) 06:38, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This just goes to show how wrong speculation can be. Unencyclopedic.Tklalmighty (talk) 20:40, 17 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re-write

[edit]

I've decided to be bold and replace the entire old article with a re-write I had been working on in my sandbox. It has been carefully written and referenced, and I've tried hard to avoid the NPOV/"essay" issues that plagued the older version of this article, but my work is only as good as the community thinks it is. Please feel free to edit and improve my work, but I really hope we can keep citation/NPOV/etc. issues out of this article. Cheers! Michael Barera (talk) 04:31, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

An update to the Sec expansion + Big 12 response section

[edit]

Well this is because in recent news it was announced the AAC who was losing 3 teams to the big 12 was picking up 6 teams from conference USA which i think swell their numbers to 14 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.135.161.148 (talk) 03:36, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
