[edit]In case anyone has anything further, the St James side in 1887 was:
Buck (goal) F. Shackell (captain) and W. Linard (backs) Knight, Wood, and R. Furlong (half-backs) Lawson and F. Dorm (left forwards), S. B Hinds (centre forward), W. Talbot and W. Timms (right forwards).
