Poor usage of outdated/offensive historical term that serves no purpose

I think "Negro" should be changed to Black. Even though the statement is about the history, it is neither necessary or appropriate to use the old label in this context to refer to the general community which exists in the present as well as the historical context being referred to.
Black is just as correct, and far less offensive.
