Proposed renaming
[edit]I moved this page to the current title, but I now think a better name might be Royal address to the nation. This would be more concise and in line with Royal Christmas Message and Oval Office address. Are there any objections or alternatives to this name? --Philip Stevens (talk) 15:30, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- I approve as creator. I too struggled over a name as I hadn't considered the earlier radio broadcasts. I'm sure there are foreign royals with significant speeches though so British Royal addresses to the nation? It sounds even worse though! No Swan So Fine (talk) 22:13, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- Royal address to the nation would keep it in line with Royal Christmas Message. --Philip Stevens (talk) 15:22, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
Empire and Commonwealth Day messages
[edit]Please add all the Empire Day and Commonweath Day broadcasts made by British monarchs under a new heading. Peter Ormond (talk) 21:14, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Farewell addesses
[edit]"Special addresses by the Monarch on days other than Christmas Day, however, are extremely rare and have only occurred at times of significant national or royal events." This seems to be contradicted be the dozen or so farewell speeches given after visits to Commonwealth countries. Could these at least be color-code to show that they are not considered a Special address? Same with the annual message to the armed forces, which is just an extension of the Christmas message. They should probably be all listed somewhere, but this seems like the wrong place. — jonas (talk) 22:17, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
