History

[edit]

In mid to late 1974 Somali Airlines started a weekly service with a leased plane (and crew) Mog-DSM(lay-over?)-Mog-Abu Dhabi with Abu Dhabi-Mog another day. That meant DSM to the Gulf did not entail flying via Karachi, but the return journey was not so convenient as there were a couple of nights in Mog before the next week's flight and all sorts of visa complications and suspicions of spying tended to erupt.--SilasW (talk) 18:51, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First Planes

[edit]

The article says the airline started with Pipers but my impression was that it began with two Cessnas previously owned by Rogers Explorations, who at one time had four flying during geophysical prospecting in Somalia. Sources one way or the other?? Is there an official record of the fates of US owned planes?--SilasW (talk) 17:20, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup

[edit]

I have made a cleanup of the article, trying to remove all the information that was unsourced, yet it is still in need of both cleanup and expansion. I have found that most of its previous contents (at least the one concerned with the history of the airline) was taken "as is" from this unreliable source, which in turn gathers information from other sites without citing them. Please do not copy and paste contents from unreliable sources.--Jetstreamer (talk) 15:31, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
