Confusion between stelae

[edit]

Udimu I believe there is some confusion in the text between the stela of Yuf and Sobekemsaf's family stela. I've uploaded both stelae on Commons (1) (2), but it seems that their descriptions and the article don't fit each other, with Engelbach's reference seemingly referring to one rather than the other. Things seems to be further complicated by Dodson & Hilton's reference. Khruner (talk) 22:54, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Khruner I think there is some debate whether the queen from the Iuef stela is the same queen, as she bears slightly different titles (only here she is King's sister). I am also not sure whether the stela with the queen's sister Neferuni must belong to a king. Sobekemsaf is called there his daughter, the king's wife Sobekemsaf. In case the stela belongs to a king (her father), we would expect the title king's daughter. Therefore the line but her title shows she was the daughter of a pharaoh, probably Rahotep. does not make much sense. Her title is just king's wife on this stela and her father could be well an official, if the title king's daughter on the Iuef stela is a mistake or if the stela refers to another queen.Udimu (talk) 07:17, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

My fault, I didn't realise that Engelbach is actually a source for both stelae, not only for the "family stela". I guess the latter (opposed to "Yuf's stela") is the one mentioned by Dodson & Hilton then, although their claim seems indeed questionable. Khruner (talk) 12:33, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I just checked Ryholt, he wonders whether both Sobekemsafs known from the two Edfu stelae are not identical. He also clearly says that she was NOT the daughter of a king, as she was not king's daughter. I also checked Dodson and they refer to another Sobekemsaf as daughter of Rahotep.-- Udimu (talk) 14:02, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
