Hagiographic, PR-like, & dated text

[edit]

WIth respect to the concern about PR-like text in earlier versions, actually, yes, it is completely PR-like. I've worked in marketing and PR and recognise PR instantly when I see it. To wit:

  • The sentence "The complete cycle is to be performed twice in 2012" is completely publicity-like in tone, because the tone that it conveys an anticipatory sense of a specific theatrical event where the subtext is "....and therefore you should go buy tickets and see it". Besides, there is no reason for such dated text from 2012 to remain on the wikipedia page in 2021, 9 years later.
  • The long commentary from Dixon about the quality of Weigle's conducting is just that, commentary, not objective fact. Such text is appropriate for Weigle's own webpage, whose purpose is, after all, to promote himself. That is what an artist's own website is for. That is not what a wikipedia page is for. The purpose of a wikipedia page is to present just the facts, and only the facts, about a given subject, without bias or promotional aspect.
  • There was no reason to remove the succession box that lists Weigle's major posts, which was missing all this time and needed to be present from the outset.
  • Likewise, there is no justification to delete the text & references about the scheduled conclusion of Weigle's GMD tenure at Oper Frankfurt, because that is a major career transition for Weigle and an important historical event for the commpany.
