ScrubsScrubs (TV series) — Every time I check the "What links here" page, for pages that link to the word "Scrubs", ALL of the disambiguous links are intended for the TV series article, but they are redirecting people to the disambiguation page Scrub instead. Fixing the redirect for just the word Scrubs, would prevent everyone from having to go through the disambiguation page first, before they get to the article about the TV show. Fortdj33 (talk) 15:07, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This might have been true until recently but you fixed the links so the problem no longer exists. Special:WhatLinksHere/Scrubs now shows only non-article space pages. There have been numerous discussions over the past three years and they all end up deciding that this page should redirect to Scrub. The links here were generally the result of editor error and you were correct in fixing them (good work!) but with Scrubs (TV series) now cancelled, the likelihood of such links being introduced is going to decrease over time. --AussieLegend (talk) 15:37, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No need to change the redirect. We've been through this before, and AussieLegend makes a good point about the decreasing occurrence of Scrubs referring to the tv show with its cancellation. Further, if there are wikilinks that point here rather than "Scrubs (tv show)" lets correct those links rather than covering up that error. --NormanEinstein (talk) 16:43, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just because I have fixed all of the current errors, does not mean that the problem no longer exists. While I agree that the occurrence of errors will decrease, now that the TV show has been canceled, this has been and will continue to be an ongoing problem. If there is a consensus not to fix the redirect, I am open to any suggestions on how to prevent people from linking to Scrubs, when they really are referring to Scrubs (TV series). Fortdj33 (talk) 18:18, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As with everything else, we fix errors as they're discovered. There are bots that help in this. --AussieLegend (talk) 18:25, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please let me know if there is a bot that addresses this specific problem, because I seem to be the only editor concerned about this, and I just don't have time to manually monitor the situation. Case in point, while we were having this discussion, someone wikified an article that had a reference to the TV show, prompting this correction. I want Wikipedia to be as accurate as possible, but someone needs to eliminate the source of these errors, before they build up again. Fortdj33 (talk) 19:39, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As per the comment immediately before yours, this was last done in February. How many times do we need to go through this process? --AussieLegend (talk) 14:48, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's been three months. What is the time limit required by policy between move requests? --Polaron | Talk 16:00, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I'm aware, there is no time limit, but that's not the issue. The issue is that we've been over this numerous times over the years and the consensus is always the same, and it will be this time again because nothing has changed. --AussieLegend (talk) 16:16, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize if I didn't address this problem in the proper way. It was not my intention to cause anyone frustration, and I agree that it would be better handled at WP:RFD. But I think the fact that this problem has come up numerous times, proves my point that it is not going to go away until it is fixed properly. I'm not advocating that the title of the Scrubs (TV series) article needs to be changed, only that the word Scrubs should redirect there. Because so far, every link to "Scrubs" that I've found in a Wikipedia article, is referring to the TV show. Fortdj33 (talk) 20:07, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The fact that it has been discussed numerous times means that if you move it, it will just be returned to being a redirect to scrub after it done. Indeed, the TV show is not the most prominent usage of "scrubs" anyways, since it is the medical clothing. 76.66.193.224 (talk)

Unfortunately, whatever anyone thinks the primary topic for "scrubs" should be, the FACT is that people are continuing to make references to the TV show in articles, by linking to a word that redirects them to a disambiguation page! For Wikipedia to be accurate, the redirect for Scrubs should point to the article that most people intend it to point to, and whether you agree or not, it has been proven that ALL of those links have led to Scrubs (TV series). Fortdj33 (talk) 12:43, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose' The various discussions have determined that the most common usage of the word "scrubs" refers to the medical clothing. If we were to retarget this redirect anywhere it would be to Scrubs (clothing), in which case people looking for the TV series would have another link to go through. For the people linking to Scrubs instead of Scrubs (TV series), leaving this redirect as it is remains the most logical outcome of this discussion. --AussieLegend (talk) 14:04, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your reasons for opposing this, and I respect your position, but I have moved this request to WP:RFD, so that the discussion can be handled properly. Fortdj33 (talk) 13:22, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
