I removed the phrase stating that salt shakers are used to sprinkle salt "onto a plate alongside (or more commonly, but impolitely, onto)" food. I confess my ignorance of any social setting in which sprinkling salt on food is inappropriate, and, more to the point, consider statements about what is/isn't polite to be a tad POV.

I also removed the assertion that a good salt shaker should have a molding "like Cutco's knives" which also seemed POV. In general, this article seems like it might benefit from having some sources to back up its statements. Here's hoping I've been helpful.

I tried to add a few more lines to the article, and I removed the text of "What makes a good salt shaker" since it was lifted completely from one of the sites in the external links, not to mention it wasn't very encyclopiodic. Logicaldisaster 03:59, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
