Scope/Focus
[edit]Most this was written about the live action TV series Salem; not the cartoon series Salem, or the comic book Salem. A lot of the information is still appropriate, but the copied part is filled with references to the TV show, and not all the fact apply to all the Salems. si»abhorreo»T 02:14, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- In that case, it's probably be a good idea to have an introductory bit about his personality and constant background, with subheadings for each incarnation of the storyline, and move 'The Model' to a subsection under the live-action TV series. —Vanderdecken∴ ∫ξφ 11:21, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- Yup. I don't particularly feel like chopping up everything I wrote about the TV Salem though, so somebody else is going to have to do it. si»abhorreo»T 02:55, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Animal treatment and the puppet.
[edit]>>The show's creators were very sensitive to the treatment of animals, so Salem was often played by an animatronic puppet rather than one of the 4 actual cats who are used for the non-dialogue scenes. This part was performed by four puppeteers and five or six different animatronic puppets.>>
This doesn't seem to make sense. Of course a puppet would be used for the dialogue scenes. There's no way to force a cat to pretend to talk.
My revision would be "The Show's creators were very sensitive to the treatment of cats. For scenes requiring dialogue, an animatronic puppet would be used, and for scenes not requiring dialogue, four cats were used individually." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Parmadil (talk • contribs) 15:11, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Silly Article
[edit]This isn't a bad article, but it's not too much invested in the real world. TVTropes would love this article.
I find it interesting that the probable religion of this fictional TV cat is surmised at, but not once is its voice actor named. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.85.198.19 (talk) 09:44, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]I've proposed this article be merged with the list of the shows characters. This character is really non-notable. It's a silly puppet cat from a show that hasn't been on in almost 10 years. The article is mostly written by fans and the character is clearly a fan favourite because it was a cat. Even some of the regular humans on the show don't have their own article. merge TurtleMelody (talk) 08:51, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
- Disagree Salem is a main character in all incarnations of Sabrina and features in more episodes than even the 2 aunts.A character with over 40 years of material has plenty of information and coverage for a stand alone article.RafikiSykes (talk) 16:04, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

Experts needed for revisions
[edit]Simply put, this article is just horribly written. I wouldn’t suggest it for deletion but most of the content needs to be either heavily revised or completely rewritten, preferably by someone who knows the comic books very well because obviously the sitcom is covered. Unfortunately, I do not have quite the expertise needed to fill out this article, but if someone does, please feel free to contribute or discuss potential contributions here.
