Stave church

[edit]

This is not a stave church, it contains some parts. There is one stave church in Sweden Hedared stave church but even that is somewhat dubious as it is built very late in the period. In addition there is one palisade church now in permanent store. In Sweden this form is often refered to as a stave church, but its really a different construction. The usual description of a stave church says it has staves (pillars) and and planks (tiles) covering the walls. A palisade construction is different, but all churches in Sweden with some kind of upright timber is refered to as a stave church. This creates some confusion. In addition to stave church and palisade church there has been a third form now often referesd to as a post church. Jeblad (talk) 19:34, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
