Diagram Improvement

I think the current diagram could be improved. Visually, the "L" label appears to be labeling only half the chord length, when it is in fact the whole chord length. Osndok (talk) 16:06, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I agree the diagram here is currently mediocre, and should be redrawn. Feel free to take a crack at it if you are feeling ambitious.
More dramatically, I think it might be an improvement to merge this article into Versine and describe both terms there in a rewritten article, since versed sine (versine) and sagitta have historically sometimes been used interchangeably, though my impression is that more commonly the sagitta is taken to be the versed sine of half the arc. The current versine article is in my opinion pretty anachronistic and somewhat misleading. I recently substantially rewrote Exsecant, including making a clearer picture and trying to make the text accurate to historical uses of the term. –jacobolus (t) 19:21, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
