English pronunciation

[edit]

Could someone put in an english "translation" of the pronounciation? Other artiles have this (an approximate translation)? 82.32.203.68 18:54, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done, although the pronunciation contains at least two sounds ("r" and "ü") that do not exist in English and a hard to approximate.192.150.186.138 (talk) 01:00, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The IPA pronunciation, which is unambiguous, is already given, so I'm taking out the "English approximation", which in any case is not normally given despite the comment above. Lfh (talk) 14:54, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

History section issue

[edit]

The "history" section does not discuss the history of "Saarbrücken" at all, but rather that of the Saar region (s. http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Saarland).99.161.111.142 (talk) 23:18, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Relying heavily on the Saarbrücken's chronicle from the city's homepage, some research done on the internet, as well as some books I own, and some other wikipedia articles, I have rewritten the history section up to the 20th century. Maybe I will also add some information to the 20th century section – some of those books I own are focussing on that era – but I think the history section now discusses the city's history, not the region's. --Micge (talk) 05:49, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I added the world wars based on material from the Allies, available online. Those books giving the German point of view will follow later. --Micge (talk) 17:54, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for your important contributions, including the war history. --Pp.paul.4 (talk) 21:34, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Historic Pictures from WWII Saarbrücken

[edit]

I found some interesting pictures on [1], I want to find out about their copyrights to figure whether they can be put on Wikipedia:

  • [2] (best one), (the webmaster said: "Corbis image, a comped copy that can be downloaded for free. A higher res photo can be purchased") I also found the picture at corbis site [3], but I found it as well in a list of pictures allegedly taken by members of the 101st Cavalry [4]
  • [5] (the webmaster said: "war department photo and hence in the public domain. Credit: Boyer, Office of War Information.")
  • [6] (the webmaster said: "Signal Corps photo and hence in the public domain")
  • [7].(the webmaster said: "US National Archives and hence in the public domain. Credit must be given to National Archives when posting")

Does anyone know if Copyright status of work by the U.S. government does apply here, analogously to [8]? -- Micge (talk) 23:36, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
